@djkracing • @NASCAR • @NASCARHomeTrack • @CTMPOfficial • Bowmanville, ON (May17, 2015)-  The Victoria Day SpeedFest presented by Castrol at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) has become recognized as the start of summer and DJ Kennington in his #17 Castrol Edge Dodge began the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series racing season in with a solid fourth place finish in his new look ride.

Right from the beginning of the weekend Kennington was extremely pleased with the performance of his #17 Castrol Edge Dodge.

“The team did so much work to get ready for this event it felt great to tell them it paid off, we had great pace right from the get go” said Kennington.

The St. Thomas, Ontario driver would start the 51 lap event from the inside of row four and was on the move in the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge right from the drop of the green flag.

“We didn’t want to be too aggressive right away but we kept the leaders in our sights” explained Kennington.

Following scheduled pit stops for tires and fuel Kennington settled into a comfortable pace and looked to make a final push in the closing laps.

“We had a couple of caution periods near the end and it bunched the field up,” stated Kennington.  “And it got a little hectic on the last lap” he added.

On the final circuit Kennington was able to take advantage of contact between two other competitors and move into fourth position as he crossed the finish line.

“That was a nice break that went our way on the last lap to get a fourth place result, but the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge ran really well all weekend, we got our season off to a good start and I’m really proud of the team” said Kennington.

Opening the season at the Castrol SpeedFest, showing off a new dynamic looking racecar and having a strong result is important to Kennington and the entire #17 Castrol Edge Dodge.
