JULY 7, 2013:  MIRABEL, QC:   Scott Steckly driver of the 22 Racing/Canadian Tire Dodge finished second on Sunday at Circuit ICAR.  In three race events at this 2.113-mile road course facility, Steckly has finished no worse than third.

Saturday morning Steckly was recorded as second quickest in both practice sessions with times quicker than current track record holder Alex Tagliani set in qualifying in 2011.  Qualifying was next for the teams later in the day and Steckly would take his Canadian Tire Dodge out  in the second timed session.  On his third circuit of the track, he posted his quickest time of 1.36.894 which was good enough for the third starting position in the Jiffy Lube 100 on Sunday.

“We didn’t get as good a lap as we did in practice earlier today but we will be in good shape for the race tomorrow,” said Steckly after qualifying.

The green flag waved for the start of the 30 lap event on Sunday and Steckly took his 22 Racing Dodge to second place in behind pole sitter and race leader Andrew Ranger.  On lap three the caution flew and the Canadian Tire Dodge restarted from the outside of row one.

Steckly maintained second place and by the half way mark, he and Ranger had broken away from the rest of the field.

With five to go, the full course caution flag was waved which set up a sprint to the finish.  Steckly again lined up on the outside of Ranger and he was again able to drop down into second place, a position he maintained until the checkered flag.

“I used up my car really bad in the middle part of the race trying to keep up with Ranger,” commented Steckly after the race.  “But we are pleased with a second place finish today – it should help us out in the points a lot.”

After bad finishes in the first two events of the season, Steckly has put back to back second place finishes on the board and has moved into the top ten in NASCAR Canadian Tire Series points.

The Jiffy Lube 100 will air on TSN/TSN2 on Sunday July 14 at 11 a.m. and on RDS/RDS2 on Friday July 26 at 11 p.m. & Sat July 27 at 10 a.m.

Next up the 22 Racing Team travel to Motoplex Speedway in Vernon, BC on Saturday July 13th followed by Auto Clearing Motor Speedway in Saskatoon, SK on Wednesday July 17th.  Steckly has numerous wins and podium finishes at both of these venues and looks to add more wins to his racing resume.

Scott Steckly and the 22 Racing Team is supported by the following sponsors:  Canadian Tire, Sylvania, Mobil 1, Erb Group, Johnsonville and AW Millwrights.
