OSCAAR Modified Tour:

Nine-time Delaware Speedway Modified champion Jamie Cox returned to open wheel competition on Friday night, capturing his first career OSCAAR tour win. ‘The Flamethrower’ made a late race pass on fellow Delaware regular Justin Demelo, for the victory. Demelo held on for second, while defending tour champion Gary McLean completed the podium finishers.

June 22nd:

Barrie Speedway:

Sophomore Shawn Murray and Gord Shepherd split Barrie Speedway’s twin-Ltd. Late Model features on June 22. For Murray, the trip to victory lane would mark his third of 2013, while Shepherd would tally his fifth win of the season, further solidifying himself atop the weekly point standings.

In Thunder Car competition, ‘The Upgrade’ Rick Walt overcame handling problems that plagued his team through qualifying, to earn his second feature win of the season. Two-time champion Jim Beleskey finished in the runner-up position, with Travis Hallyburton completing the Top 3.

Defending champion Charlie Smith took top honours in the entry-level Pure Stock division.

Peterborough Speedway:

Former Autumn Colours Classic champion ‘Handsome’ Chris Mitchell held off two-time winner Craig Graham and former Summer Sizzler champion Bryan Mercer for his second Limited Late Model feature win of the season.

Stu Robinson Jr. returned to victory lane in the Thunder Car division for his second win of 2013, subbing for car owner Donny Beatty. The former Super Late Model standout held off a hard charge from Canadian Tire Motorsports Park regular Howie Crowe and former Kawartha standout Steve Mayhew.

Tyler Junkin won the evening’s Renegade Trucks feature.

Sauble Speedway:

‘Marvellous’ Marvin Freiburger captured his first Limited Late Model win of 2013 on Saturday night at Sauble Speedway.

Street Stock graduate Ron Lawrence won the Thunder Car feature. The event was delayed almost two hours after Ken Grubb made contact with the catch fence, tearing down an entire portion of it along the front straightaway. Kudos to Thunder Car competitor Ken McNicol and Late Model driver Marvin Freiburger in quarterbacking the repair efforts.

Jake Zevenbergen won the Street Stock event and Eric Thom captured victory for the Junior Late Models.
