Sauble Speedway will host its 2nd week of competition this Saturday (today), with the speedway’s Thunder Car division headlining a card that also features the Street Stocks and 4 Cylinders. Defending Thunder Car champion Matt Mulholland captured victory on opening night, and finds himself atop the point standings heading into week 2. After a pair of shows that saw Scott McTeer and Jason Parker visit victory lane on May 19th & 20th, Sauble’s Limited Late Model division will have the night off on May 26th, returning to action on June 2nd.
Flamboro Speedway has scheduled a special 2 for 1 admission discount for residents of Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo area communities this Saturday. The promotion coincides with Flamboro’s regular bill of racing that includes the Late Model, Thunder Car and Mini Stock divisions along with the visiting Ontario Pro Challenge Series. Guelph, ON’s Jason Shaw will ride a wave of momentum into the event, the multi-time Late Model champion won his first feature of the season on May 19th and has yet to finish a race outside of the top-5 in 2012.
Mosport Speedway will return to action for its 2nd week of 2012 this Saturday, with the weekly Limited Late Model, Thunder Car and Pure Stock divisions in action. Mark ‘Flash’ Gordon opened up the Mosport season with a win on May 19th, and will look to once again outgun divisional rivals Darren Kearnan, Jim Rossiter and Kyle Donaldson. 2008 Barrie Speedway champion Keith McLeod will lead the Limited Late Model division into action this Saturday night, as the Oro-area track gets set for Week 4. May 19th saw Al Inglis and Dwayne Baker come away with feature wins, both drivers will be looking for a follow-up this Saturday, entering the evening 3rd and 4th in points respectively. In addition to the Limited Late Models, point leader Rick Walt will put his 3-race Thunder Car win streak on the line, along with the Pure Stocks and visiting Ontario Legends Series.
Round 1 of the MRE Pro Series is set for this Sunday at Sunset Speedway. The Innisfil, ON oval is anticipating strong car counts in all divisions, with the Pro Late Model division headlining the event with a 75-lap feature race. The Super Stock division also plans to welcome a diverse and talented visiting group, including current Flamboro point leader ‘Killer’ Kevin Albers, 2-time Kawartha champion ‘Fast Time’ Willie Reyns, undefeated Barrie point leader ‘The Upgrade’ Rick Walt and Delaware frontrunner Darrell Lake. Sunset Super Stock regulars Herb Walters, Randy Rusnell, Lane Zardo and 12-year old Cayden Lapcevich have already confirmed they will be in attendance to represent Sunset in the 50-lap A Main.
