DELAWARE SPEEDWAY (June 26, 2013)- The first special event of the year for the FT Garage Late Models, the Sifton 100 Canada Day celebration, is on at Delaware Speedway this Friday night (June 28) at 7:30 pm.
The event also features the famous V8 Stocks and fireworks after the races. Delaware’s kids club will be running before the races and kids age 16 and under are free of charge included with the track’s amazing family value pass deal.
Two-time winner of the Canada Day event, Jesse Kennedy (#10) of Southwold has already confirmed he will be in attendance for the Sifton 100. Kennedy, currently running on the provincially touring OSCAAR Super Late Model circuit, enters as the defending winner of the race and will face off against Delaware Speedway regulars and visitors. The event includes qualifying which will set the field with an inversion. From there the event is a straight up 100-lap race with a competition yellow at some point between laps 40 and 60. Drivers have to keep their head in the game at this event: caution laps do not count towards the total of 100 which means every lap will be run under green.
It has been over a month since we last saw an official V8 Stock series race at the track. Some drivers form the new divisions have made appearance alongside the Demar Aggregates trucks but on Friday they will get back to their true competition. Steve Book (#64) of Brantford won the last event and is also fresh off a win in the GAW Recycling Enduro series last Saturday. The V8 stocks will be running a pair of ten-lap qualifying heats and a 35-lap feature.
Spectator gates on Friday open at 6:00 pm, time trials will be at 7:10, and racing begins at 7:30 pm. The event is a specially priced event, more information is available at the track website or race information line (519) 652-5068.
