PLATTSVILLE, ON- Fresh off of a head-turning 18th-to-3rd performance at Sunset Speedway’s ‘Velocity 250’ event on September 28th, Thunder Car standout Shawn Chenoweth will be in the field at Flamboro Speedway’s Oktoberfest in search of a trip to victory lane this weekend.
“We haven’t been to Flamboro in a few weeks, but I think we should be able to pick up right where we left off,” smiles Chenoweth.
The veteran dominated the second half of Flamboro’s 2014 season, launching a winning streak that spanned from June 14th to August 17th, before departing to focus on his team’s upstart Super Late Model program.
“Our Thunder Car is just an awesome piece. It’s fast anywhere we take it, but it hooks up especially well at Flamboro,” says ‘The Mastodon’. “Oktoberfest is typically a really competitive event, and we’re expecting to see some fast cars from across the province this weekend. I’m looking forward to seeing if we can muscle this ‘ol girl back to victory lane”
If his Sunset performance is any indication, Chenoweth is likely to play the role of contender when the green flag drops on Saturday afternoon.
“I think we had a good enough car to win at Sunset,” admits Chenoweth. “We got black flagged out of our first heat race for a fuel leak, which meant we had to come through the last chance qualifier and start deep in the field for the A Main. The car responded beautifully, and we passed a tonne of fast cars, but just didn’t have enough equipment left for the top-2”
“Hopefully we can get through our heat races this weekend without any issues, and gives ourselves a decent starting position,” continues Chenoweth. “Starting at the back definitely makes things more interesting, but it’s not the most effective way to win races”
