PLATTSVILLE, ON- Former Flamboro Speedway Pro Late Model champion Shawn Chenoweth is making no attempts to hide his readiness for June 6th’s Meineke 100. The London Recreational Racing representative is approaching APC United Late Model Series-sanctioned event with added intensity, as he readies himself to defend his home track against some of the top Late Model talent in Ontario.

“This is one of those races on our schedule that we’ve been looking forward to all year,” smiles Chenoweth in reference to Round 2 of 8 for the upstart Pro Late Model tour.

“Flamboro’s a tough place to win at – and whether you’re a home track guy or not, I think every single team that rolls through those gates on Saturday knows that they’re going to have some work to do”

‘The Mastodon’ heaped praise on the tour roster, but insisted that no driver in the field will be safe during the 100-lap affair.

“This field is so close that you really don’t have the luxury of making a mistake – especially at a place as tight as Flamboro,” says the former Autumn Colours Classic winner.

“No matter where you are on the track, the guy behind you is going to be right on your bumper. And if you slip up, or have a bad lap, you’re going to be sawing the wheel just trying to hold your position. No one is safe. No one is going to be able to take a lap off”

Chenoweth opened the 2015 tour with a 4th place finish on May 23rd at Sunset Speedway – and looks to build on that momentum when the series rolls into his proverbial backyard.

“Coming in with a top-5 is a lot better than trying to bounce back from a DNF,” offers Chenoweth. “Sunset hasn’t traditionally been our strongest track, so our long-term game plan for that show was just to come out and try not to put ourselves in a hole early in the season”

“We knew that, if we had a bad night at Sunset, Flamboro would give us an opportunity to make up some ground,” continues the fan-favourite. “Now, instead of giving us a chance to rebound, Flamboro is going to give us a chance to dig our heels in a little. It’s a good feeling”

Despite Chenoweth’s thousands of laps around the 1/3-mile facility, the second-generation standout knows that he will have to work for every position in the feature event on Saturday night.

“I anticipate this race to be a lot like Sunset was. We’re going to be on track with over 20 other drivers that want to push us,” says Chenoweth. “Guys that want to test us. This is the best competition in Ontario, and it’s up to us to go out and be as close to perfect as possible and keep these guys behind us”

“As a driver – that’s my only job. And on Saturday night I’m going to roll out of our pit box and do it to the best of my ability.”

Details, including gate times and ticket prices, for June 6th’s Meineke 100′ can be found at www.FlamboroSpeedway.ca.

Shawn Chenoweth’s ‘ImageWraps.ca Best Appearing Award’ winning No. 89 is sponsored by London Recreational, Bennett GM, KR Communications, Midas of Orangeville, Castrol Edge, Hitman Hotrods, Wilson Ponds, Graybar, McColl Racing Enterprises, Ideal Brake Parts, Team Vincent Motorsports, Finish Line Concrete Therapy, Innerkip Plumbing and Heating, ProWraps and Automotive Truck & Tire.
