INNISFIL, ON- After more than 10 months away from the sport, ‘The Frequent Flyer’ Sean Grosman was back in action at Sunset Speedway on August 3rd, compiling an impressive 6th place finish in 50-lap Limited Late Model competition.
“It feels great to be back. 10 months is a long time”, smiled Grosman post-race. “The beginning of the night was mostly about knocking some rust off of the driver, but once I got some laps under my belt this car really came to life”
The North Miami, FL driver transferred into the event through the B-Main, before spending the entirety of the 50-laps running within the top-10.
“We didn’t have the heat race result we were looking for, but this car was fantastic in the feature”, explained Grosman. “This team did such a fantastic job preparing our car. It felt like putting on an old pair of shoes. It felt natural being back at Sunset”
August 3rd’s event marked Grosman debut with Ryan Kimball Motorsports, after partnering with the Norwood, ON-based team over the off-season.
“I couldn’t ask for a better team to come back with”, said Grosman. [Car Chief] Ryan Kimball, Bill Craig and [Crew Chief] Jamie Sutton were on point all night. I can’t wait to see what more we can accomplish”
“Ryan and his team performed a number of upgrades to our chassis over the Winter, and I’m confident that we can put together a few more strong runs before the season is over”
With less than a handful of races left on the Sunset schedule, Grosman remains uncertain as to how many more outings his SMG Motorsports team will file entry for.
“Ryan’s currently a few races away from a championship at Peterborough Speedway, so that’s our primary objective right now. I’m working around his schedule, and we really haven’t finalized how many races we’ll do this season. But, I’m excited for what the future holds”
