SAINT-JOSEPH-DE-KAMOURASKA, QC – Simon Dion-Viens will be on track this coming weekend for the 49th edition of the legendary Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières.
The Kamouraska, QC driver will be driving a NASCAR Pinty’s Series car prepared by three-time championship winning team Dave Jacombs Racing. Dion-Viens will pilot the No. 37 Castrol Canada Dodge, with associate sponsorship from Bestbuy Auto Parts, WE Finances and Olivier Kamouraska Chrysler.
The race will feature Canada’s top stock car racers competing on the walled, temporary street circuit. Among the notable competitors will be Alex Tagliani, Andrew Ranger, DJ Kennington, the Dumoulin brothers (L.P and J.F.), to name a few.
“I am very happy to have come to an agreement to drive for Dave Jacombs’ team in the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières,” said Dion-Viens. “The team has had great success in Canada’s NASCAR series, most recently winning the championship last season with driver Alex Labbé. We’re looking forward to having a great car for the GP3R.”
For Quebec racers, the GP3R is an event that is close to their hearts.
“It’s always special to be on track at Trois-Rivières,” continued Dion-Viens. “I love the circuit and the atmosphere that surrounds the race is very special. It’s a major event and offers an excellent opportunity for me to provide visibility and recognition for my partners. It’s adding motivation to know that people from Castrol Canada, Bestbuy Auto Parts, WE Finances and Olivier Kamouraska Chrysler will be on hand to encourage me and be part of the experience.”
And while he’s still searching for his first NASCAR Pinty’s Series victory, Dion-Viens has enjoyed considerable success on the streets of Trois-Rivières, in the past. In 2013, he earned two victories in the Canadian Supercar Series, piloting a Corvette.
Simon Dion-Viens and the rest of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series racers will take to the track for their first practice session of the weekend on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The green flag to start the 50-lap GP3R will fly at 2:15 p.m. on Sunday, August 12.
The race will be carried live on RDS2 and will be broadcast later in the week on TSN.
Simon Dion-Viens would like to thank his main partners for their support: Castrol Canada, BestBuy Auto Parts, WE Finances, Olivier Kamouraska Chrysler, The Grand Prix of Trois-Rivières, Rémi Charest Enterprises, FM107 and Construction Luc Moreau.
