@22Racing •@NASCAR •#NASCAR Pintys Series •@ErbTransport •@WilmotFamilyRC •#ErbDrivefor5 •November, 16, 2016 – (Baden, ON) – Four-time NASCAR Pinty’s Series Champion Scott Steckly is proud to announce a community-based partnership with long-time sponsor Erb Transport on the #ErbDrivefor5 five-day food drive in support of the Wilmot Family Resource Centre’s Food Bank, a member of the Food Bank of Waterloo Region.
Giving back to the community and helping those in need has been a core principal of the Erb Group of Companies from the beginning. Since its inception in 1959 they have remained committed to being a good corporate citizen and employer. For the past 10 years Erb Transport has held an internal pre-holiday season food and toy drive and most recently, in partnership with Piller’s Fine Foods in Waterloo, sent a trailer full of non-perishable food items to Alberta Food Banks for Fort McMurray evacuees.
Representing Erb Transport since 1999, Steckly drove to National titles in 2008, 2011, 2013 and 2015. He is most recognized as a driver but he’s also well respected within the NASCAR Pinty’s Series community as the 22 Racing Team owner.
“Like a career in racing, life has its highs and lows. My family, the 22 Racing crew, sponsors and their families and fans have supported me during the wins and through the challenging times.” said Steckly “I’ve been truly blessed with the support I have around me. The Holiday Season can put an extra strain on families who may already be struggling. Together with Erb Transport we look forward to helping the 1 in 20 households that struggle to find their way from hunger to hope.”
Within the Region of Waterloo – which includes Wilmot Township, 17% of those accessing food assistance are employed, 3% receive Employment Insurance, 30% receive Ontario Disability Support. 40% of households receiving food support are families with children. Since 2008 there has been a 30% increase in emergency food hamper requests in Waterloo Region.
Starting on December 13th 2016 non-perishable food items can be dropped off in the lobby at three Erb Group locations:
Erb Transport – Head Office
290 Hamilton Road
Erb Transport – Baden
1473 Gingerich Road
3025 Sandhills Road
The five-day #ErbDrivefor5 Food Drive initiative will conclude on Saturday December 17th at the New Hamburg Community Centre Arena at 251 Jacob St, New Hamburg, ON between 10:00 AM and 2 PM where Steckly will be available for autographs and photos with fans and will have his #22 NASCAR Pinty’s Series race car on display where he hopes to “Stuff a Stock Car” with non-perishable food donations.
In appreciation for those who participate in this Food Drive, Steckly and 22 Racing will hold a draw for a Racing Prize Pack that includes; 2 weekend passes to a local NASCAR Pinty’s Series race in 2017, an official 22 Racing team hat and crew shirt. To be eligible for this prize pack donors must post a photo on Twitter or Facebook of themselves dropping off their food donation at one of the three Erb Group donation locations using the hashtag #ErbDrivefor5 between December 13th and Dec. 16th, 2016.
