STROUD, ON (September 27, 2017)- Making his way to the front in the early stages of the Velocity 250 at Sunset Speedway, Ryan Semple scored a solid podium finish.
Semple was quick right off the bat on Saturday, posting a sixth in his first heat, followed by a third in the second qualifier.
Starting 14th for Sunday’s 50-lap feature, he avoided the pair of incidents at the start to run 10th with just three laps on the board. Restarting inside the top-10, he continued to make his way forward, running fifth as of the fifth caution at Lap 9.
On the restart, he battled side-by-side for position, including a three-wide move going into turn three to move up to third by Lap 18. Semple then got alongside Brandon Passer for second at Lap 19, but the seventh caution came out for a stopped car in turn two.
Restarting third, he was able to clear Passer for second and begin to set his sights on Jordan Howse for the lead. From there on, no more cautions flew and Semple was unable to close the gap, crossing the finish line in second.
The Velocity 250 runner-up just adds to the statistics this year, as Semple scored 11 top-five’s in 17 points events, including a victory mid-summer, en route to placing second in the points standings.
