STROUD, ON (September 5, 2017)- The solid runs for Ryan Semple to close out the 2017 campaign continued on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway, as he posted a top-five finish in the Super Stock feature.
Semple started off the night well, picking up the victory in the first heat, followed by a sixth-place finish in the second qualifier.
Starting the feature from eighth, he dropped back a spot in the opening laps, but began to move forward, breaking into the top-five before the second caution at Lap 5. Unfortunately, a pair of back-to-back restarts did not go in his favor, as he’d drop back to the ninth spot with nine laps on the board. He began to make up ground, getting through the restart at Lap 11 cleanly to move back up to sixth.
Semple continued to climb forward, getting alongside Dave Doucette for fifth on Lap 14, completing the pass two laps later. He then got alongside Gerritt Tiemersma for fourth at Lap 19, completing the pass four laps later to move up once again.
He would work at tracking down the top-three, but was unable to before the checkered flew, crossing the finish line in fourth.
So far this season, Semple has been impressive on a weekly basis, with nine top-five’s in 15 races this season. He will look to capture his second feature victory of the year on September 9.
