SUN PEAKS, BC (October 3, 2019)- Sun Peaks, BC racer Jason White concluded his 2019 racing season this past weekend competing in the final round of the 2019 NASCAR Pinty’s Series at Jukasa Motor Speedway near Hamilton, Ontario in #21 Mercedes of Kamloops/Zimmer Auto Group Dodge. The race turned out to be a snapshot of White’s season, some real highs along with some bumps in the road.
White began the day in his #21 Mercedes of Kamloops/Zimmer Auto Group Dodge showing good speed and Jason was pumped up for the race to come.
“Car’s good” he stated after practice. “The CBRT guys did a good job getting it ready and I think we’re set for a good night” he added.
When rain showers washed out qualifying White started the #21 Mercedes of Kamloops/Zimmer Auto Group Dodge in the middle section of the field and began looking for opportunities to move forward. Others were also anxious in the early going and, in some cases, overanxious and White was hit hard by another car and sent into the outside wall between turns three and four. Sadly, the damage was so severe that repairs could not be made quickly enough to get White back into the race.
“It’s a damn shame” said an agitated White. “We weren’t even halfway in the race and I got punted out of the way. I feel terrible for the #21 Mercedes of Kamloops/Zimmer Auto Group Dodge guys who worked hard to give me a good car again and we didn’t get to show it” he added.
Though it was a disappointing final race event for White this season, looking back the positives far outweighed the sour ending.
“The couple of disappointments can’t take away from all the positives this year” said White. “In February I raced on the high-banks at Daytona in the ARCA series, in Saskatoon I became the first western Canadian driver to reach 100 starts in the Pinty’s Series, we had good competitive runs this year with top-ten finishes. I’m excited for what’s to come in the future”.
White is also extremely grateful for all the support of the partners who have made this year possible.
“Rob Zimmer and Zimmer Wheaton Group have been amazing friends and supporters for years; this year wouldn’t have been possible without them. And the race fans that come out and see the show, we couldn’t do it without their support”.
Jason White will be working hard during the off season on his racing plans for next year. He expects to be back on track during Speedweeks in February at Daytona International Speedway.
