INNISFIL, ON – (June 7, 2018)- The Outlaw Midget Series will open up its third season of competition this weekend at Sunset Speedway.

For series co-creator Robin McLean, the Outlaw’s first two years has very much been a labour of love, as the upstart tour has gained traction and car-count whilst establishing itself as one of the most rapidly growing divisions in all of Ontario short track racing.

‘’This club was started three years ago with the idea of picking up where the Hurricane Midgets left off,” explains McLean. “It hasn’t been easy, by a long shot. Our first year was defined by all different kinds of growing pains”

“We were a new series trying to book races with speedways that weren’t familiar with us. But, at the end of the day, we were able to prove ourselves and gain their trust thanks to the hard work from the Board of Directors and the dedication of our drivers”

There’s no questioning the gratitude that McLean has for the industry members and promoters that offered their support for the Outlaw Midgets right from the onset, helping the series establish a quick base from which to grow.

“I really can’t thank the drivers and all of the promoters enough for sticking with us and trusting in our vision,” says the Cookstown, ON native with a smile. “We’ve cemented ourselves as one of the top attractions in the province in a real short amount of time – and it’s because of every single person that took a chance on us”

“From Mark Dilley to Brian and Sandra Todish to Jason Thom – I owe all of them a huge debt of gratitude for the support they’ve shown us right from the first few weeks of our existence”

This weekend’s event will mark the beginning of a new chapter for the series, and McLean is confident that the fans and racers alike will enjoy what the Outlaws are preparing to bring to the table.

“Promoters know that when the Outlaw Midgets are rolling into their back gate, they’re guaranteed a show,” notes McLean. “This weekend is going to be no different. Expect a huge car count and close racing – because that’s what we’re all about. I’m looking forward to kicking off our season and being part of a huge event at an awesome facility.”
