March 13 2014 THOROLD, ONTARIO – RIDE BIG … LIVE BIG … Register your team today for the Inaugural Heart & Stroke BIG BIKE Event at Merrittville Speedway – Wednesday July 9th.

Merrittville Speedway is challenging race fans … race teams … their sponsors … the local business community and anyone in between to get involved with the Thorold facility’s inaugural event. Form a team or join one and take to the track. By riding and fundraising for the Heart & Stroke Big Bike you’re raising funds that will help the Foundation achieve their vital goals for our future.

“Everyone will feel the joy and exhilaration of living, and giving from the heart when they ride and fundraise for the Big Bike,”  encourages (Merrittville Speedway GM) Erica Bicknell-Jones, “as far as I know it’s the first time the Big Bike will be on a race track … we are hoping that it results in a memorable experience for all those involved … and an annual one!”

The Heart and Stroke Foundation wants to help all Canadians enjoy healthy lives – free from heart disease and stroke. With your help we can make it happen.

It’s easy to get started! Just follow the four R’s of Big Bike. Register your team online at bigbike.ca. Then recruit 29 riders for your team. Remind your team members to raise at least a minimum of $50 per rider to secure a seat on the Big Bike. Lastly, on event day, bring your fun, high-energy team out and get ready to ride!

There is no registration fee for this event. All we ask is that each rider raises a minimum of $50 to help fund life-saving heart disease and stroke research. Organizations that wish to register can do so as a full team of 29 or as a half team of 15.

There’s no question that riding the Big Bike through the streets is a lot of fun, but imagine taking that experience to the next level with an exciting race. Teams will be timed while riding two laps around the track to contend for prizes and trophies.

Heart & Stroke Big Bike is a vital fundraiser with impressive results and continues to engage Canadians across the country. Last year, over 65,000 riders in over 200 communities helped raise over $8.4 million for research.

Merrittville Speedway’s Inaugural Big Bike Event is set for Wednesday July 9th from approximately 1:00 to 8:00 PM. To start your Team or to register click on http://www.bigbike.ca/site/c.8oLGKOPnE5LQH/b.8855931/k.90C0/Register_Now.htm

It’s only with your help that we can change our future for the better and improve the lives of every Canadian family touched by heart disease or stroke.
