BARRIE, ON (March 15, 2019)- With anticipation building towards the 2019 racing season, Spencer-Walt Motorsports unveiled the No. 31w Limited Late Model for Rick Spencer-Walt this past weekend at the Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Expo.
Sticking with the familiar blue and orange that fans have grown used to, the brand new five star body featured a wrap by Auto Trim Design.
“The fan’s reaction to the car was amazing,” Spencer-Walt said. “I never really heard any negatives about the car, just a lot of positive feedback.”
As the new body caught the attention of many show attendees, admittedly the switch to McColl Racing Enterprises for the new car was a surprise, as well.
“The chassis switch is a big surprise for people but for us, it’s just the next step towards where we want to be and need to be in the coming years,” Spencer-Walt said. “I won’t and have nothing negative to say about Jr Hanley and the setups he sent me to the track with, and we will continue to use him for our other cars. When you can sit here now and think we have a car from Jr and a car from McColl, we really do have the best we can have!”
As previously announced, Spencer-Walt will be chasing a championship at Sunset Speedway in 2019.
“Heading into 2019, I think we just need what we do – cross our t’s and dot our I’s in the shop, and when we show up we know what we bring and that alone should excite the fans and sponsors,” he said.
Spencer-Walt has been successful at Sunset Speedway previously, scoring a feature victory in last year’s Spring Velocity en route to winning the Great Lakes Concrete Series Championship. He is also coming off an impressive year that saw him take home a pair of titles, as he was also crowned the 2018 Sauble Speedway Late Model Champion.
“I believe the competition at Sunset is still one of the best fields in the province,” he said. “You have Gord Shepherd, Danny Benedict, the Hallyburtons, Al Inglis, and Nick Goetz. These are big names with big resumes now, so that makes it tough come Saturday night!”
The Eldon Wallis owned team will receive sponsorship support this season from Simcoe Sewer and Water, Gohydrovac.ca, Jim Wilson Chevrolet, Auto Trim Design, Byer’s Equipment Motorsports, Orser Technical Services, Heidi’s RV Superstore, GreenSteelRoof.ca, HOTC, Speedy Auto Glass Orilla, Red Castle Dyno, Speedy Auto Machine, and EPIC Racewear.
Fans are encouraged to stay tuned in the coming weeks, as there is lots of news still to come surrounding 2019 plans.
As previously announced, Robbie Sikes will be running the full Sunset Speedway schedule, with his No. 34 Late Model being revealed as we get closer to race season.
Spencer-Walt Motorsports is also proud to announce Rick and Danielle’s children Faith and Jake Spencer-Walt will be getting behind the wheel of a Jr. Late Model this season. More details will be announced closer to May, but the children are proud to see sponsorship support from GreenSteelRoof.ca, B&B Towing, G.D. Coates Used Car Superstore, and The Frame Shop.
