INNISFIL, Ontario (May 20, 2019)- — Spencer-Walt Motorsports would have a busy Spring Velocity weekend, as Rick Spencer-Walt was in action both days at Sunset Speedway.

Spencer-Walt started off the weekend by running the APC Auto Parts United Late Models of Ontario Tour season opening Dayco 100 on Saturday night, thanks to an opportunity from McColl Racing Enterprises to run their pro late model.

The speed was in the No. 7 Late Model right from the drop of the initial green flag, as Spencer-Walt qualified sixth for the 100-lap feature with a lap of 14.395 seconds.

Rolling off the grid outside of the third row, he’d battle side-by-side with Jordan Lawrence in the early stages for fifth. He would not get the spot, looking to fall in line to ride out the early laps. However, contact to the rear bumper on Lap 7 would result in Spencer-Walt going for a spin off of turn four.

Restarting from the tail of the field, he began to make his way forward, running 16th as of the next caution at Lap 37. Restarting on the outside of the eighth row with 63 laps to go, he would barely escape Blair Wickett after he spun on the restart, allowing him to move up another spot. He’d continue to move forward, getting alongside Dwayne Baker for 10th just before the halfway mark of the event.

He’d complete the pass, followed by pass on Jason Parker to move up into ninth with 52 laps on the board. He’d move into eighth with a pass on Josh Stade, before challenging Treyten Lapcevich for seventh with 40 laps to go. He’d be unable to complete the pass as the leaders made their way through lap traffic, falling back in line. He’d challenge Lapcevich once again for the spot once they were clear of the traffic, but another lap car would force Spencer-Walt to have fall back in line in eighth with 36 laps to go.

Through the back end of the race, he’d continue to challenge for the position, but was unable to complete the pass, crossing the finish line with an eighth-place finish. It marks his second straight APC Series top-10 after winning the event at Sunset Speedway last August.

Spencer-Walt would then get behind the wheel of his familiar No. 31 Limited Late Model on Sunday for the second round of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Division I competition. He would finish third in his lone heat, with the 75-lap feature being rained out. Track officials did announce intentions to make up the event at a later date to be announced.

Spencer-Walt will be back in action on Saturday, August 25 for the next night of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Division I competition at Sunset Speedway.

The Eldon Wallis owned team is proud to receive sponsorship this season from Simcoe Sewer and Water, Gohydrovac.ca, Jim Wilson Chevrolet, Auto Trim Design, Byer’s Equipment Motorsports, Orser Technical Services, Heidi’s RV Superstore, GreenSteelRoof.ca, HOTC, Speedy Auto Machine, and EPIC Racewear.
