@riceracingTO • @MicraCup • @nissancanada •@CTMPOfficial •@unitedauto • Toronto, ON (August 31, 2016)- Lindsay Rice of Rice Racing returns to her home track Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for the biggest racing event of the season.

Lindsay will be joining in with the vast lineup of professional drivers at the Chevrolet Silverado 250 race weekend, and for the first time ever, she will be driving a Nissan Micra Cup car.

Having been on a two week hiatus from racing, Lindsay is ecstatic about getting back in a race car for the Nissan Micra Cup’s 13th and 14th races of 2016. Lindsay Rice will be piloting the #27 Nissan Micra Cup car, bringing a brand new challenge for the current 3rd place GT3 Race Ontario Champion.

Lindsay Rice and the Rice Racing team are also very thrilled to announce that they will be joining forces with the established United Auto Racing team from Montreal, Quebec for the upcoming weekend. Lindsay Rice will be supported by her new partners in all of her racing endeavors this weekend at the popular Ontario circuit.

The Nissan Micra Cup series will host four women drivers on track this weekend, with two of them to be found under the Rice Racing/United Auto Racing team tent, in their #27 and #77 Micra Cup cars.

Lindsay’s new teammate Ashley Sahakain, driver of the #77 Cup car, has been sweeping the title of ‘Rookie of the Race’ throughout the season and is only in her second year of racing. With them, Chris Sahakain will be piloting the #9 Micra Cup for United Auto Racing, as well as his #99 Ford Mustang in the Canadian Touring Car Championship. He currently stands 1st in his class in the CTCC, which is a series that Chris and Lindsay have competed in together before.

The Nissan Micra Cup series is now nearing the end of its 8-weekend season, with drivers rounding out their final championship points. Lindsay, entering in at the tail of 2016, will dedicate her weekend to learning the new race car and performing at her best in order to lock in some good and consistent race laps for her team.

The schedule for the Nissan Micra Cup series this weekend brings two practices, two qualifying sessions, and two races. The races will both be held in the afternoon on race day, with Race 13 on Saturday at 7pm, and Race 14 on Sunday at 5pm. The autograph session for the series will take place on Sunday at 1:15 – 1:45pm, where Lindsay will be sure to have her hero cards prepared for her fans.

The Nissan Micra Cup series, now in its second season, brings a thrilling show of identical Nissan Micra S cars racing together for the podium spot. Entertaining to say the least, the Cup car races bring out the true talent of each driver from behind the wheel as the all of the race cars are all exactly the same.

The Micra Cup houses a 1.6L engine that exerts 109HP, which is a definite adjustment for Lindsay Rice who is used to her Porsche 911 race car. That being said, consistency and precision is of the utmost importance to do well around the CTMP circuit in a spec series, not to mention a spec series with very low horsepower.

Within the Nissan Micra Cup rulebook, the Nissan Micra cars are the required Micra S models, minor race modifications. These modifications include a roll cage, racing seat, upgraded NISMO suspension, and other minimal tweaks. No other changes are allowed. As for the race car interior, the interior of the car is completely removed, but the dashboard still remains, along with the five-speed manual shifter knob.

The Rice Racing/United Auto Racing team is prepared for a busy weekend of events and excitement as the Chevrolet Silverado 250 event will bring in 70,000 plus spectators to the circuit to support Canadian motorsport. The Nissan Micra Cup is just one of the many popular series to be racing this weekend, and will be racing alongside series such as the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada, the Canadian Touring Car Championship, and NASCAR Pinty’s Series.
