INNISFIL, Ontario (June 16, 2021)— After a busy off-season with work on both cars, Reed-Charles Motorsports is ready for this weekend.

The team will be have a two-car effort for the season opener at Sunset Speedway, with Cheyenne Reed-Charles and Brandon Steele behind the wheel.

Reed-Charles scored two top-five’s and six top-10’s in he rookie campaign at Sunset Speedway in 2019, while Steele won the b-main in one of the biggest events of the year at Varney Motor Speedway in 2020.

“I plan on just really working on getting myself better,” Cheyenne Reed-Charles said. “2020 wasn’t a good year for myself and team due to my mental health. It stopped me from participating in the races we planned on going too. So in 2021, I plan on hopefully getting back behind the wheel, learning the ways around my new car and racing against mental health. I just want to have fun with everyone around me.”

In the fight against mental health, Reed-Charles has launched a campaign titled Race Against Mental Health, with sales from apparel, stickers, and more carrying the logo going to the Canadian Mental Health Assocation (CMHA).

Founded in 1918, CMHA is the most established, most extensive community mental health organization in Canada. Through a presence in more than 330 communities across every province and one territory, CMHA provides advocacy, programs and resources that help to prevent mental health problems and illnesses, support recovery and resilience, and enable all Canadians to flourish and thrive. You can learn more about CMHA by checking out their website at https://cmha.ca/.

“Mental Health is something many people suffer from, many people have lost someone due to mental health. It’s a illness that everyone should take seriously, always check in on your family and friends no matter what,” she said. “This year and for many many more years I’ll be ‘Racing against mental health’. Racing is one thing that clears my mind and makes me happy, last year my mental health took over my whole summer of racing and this year I’m coming back harder than ever. I’m racing for everyone who’s suffering, I’m racing for everyone who has lost their life due to mental health.

“Last year, the Bullen family, Sunset Speedway and many people lost someone who could make everyone smile and laugh. My best friend lost someone very special to him. This year, I’ll be helping keep the memory of Melissa Bullen alive and racing in memory of her every weekend.”

Reed-Charles will feature sponsorship on her car from Thor Motors Orillia, Clean Up and Demolition, Earth Electric, G&H Auto Service Orillia, Effective Automation Systems Inc., Just 2 Guys Property Maintenance, and Epic Racewear.
