@andrew_ranger •@NASCAR •@NASCARHomeTrack •#NASCAR Pintys Series •Wetaskiwin, AB (July 23, 2016)- Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge opened up the annual NASCAR Pinty’s Series swing through western Canada at Edmonton International Raceway with another strong result.
The former winner at the Wetaskiwin, Alberta oval used all his driving skill to claim a sixth place finish and maintains the overall championship lead.
During the afternoon practice session Ranger was pleased with the performance of the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge.
“We were the fourth quickest car during the practice and I was pleased with how the car was handling” said Ranger.
Posting the sixth quickest qualifying lap Ranger began the 300-lap event in the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge from the outside of row three and hovered around the top five in the early going before slipping back several positions.
“The car was a little bit loose in the early going,” explained the driver.
As the race neared the 100-lap mark Ranger began moving the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge back toward the front. When the scheduled midrace break occurred allowing teams to make pit stops for fuel, fresh tires and adjustments the team made a bold decision.
“We made a big adjustment to the car with the expectation that it would improve the handling in the second half” said the driver.
When the race returned to green flag action Ranger made another push toward the front in the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge. Ranger would run as high as second in the field but in the late stages the car became difficult to handle. Ranger would cross the finish line with a sixth place result.
“We are doing some different things with the set up on the car and we just went a little bit too far,” said Ranger. “But we did get some good points and we still lead in the championship. I’m excited to get to the next race in Saskatoon and keep improving,” he added.
At the midway point of the season Andrew Ranger leads the overall championship by nine points.
Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team are back in action this Wednesday July 27th at Wyant Group Raceway in Saskatoon, SK.
