(July 8, 2017) Mirabel, QC- Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team looked forward to returning to Circuit ICAR for round number four of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series this past Saturday. While Ranger had scored four previous victories at the track this year’s layout featured a new shorter, tighter configuration but the team was confident they could continue their success at the track laid out at the Mirabel Airport in Mirabel, Quebec.
During the afternoon practice Ranger had the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge near the top of the time sheets and was very happy with the car.
“The track is very slick but the car felt very good right away” said Ranger. “We made some little adjustments but we knew we’d be good for the race” he added.
Rain showers swept through the area prior to the qualifying session but Ranger once again had the #27 near the front.
“The Mopar car was very strong, we qualified on the outside of row two, would have liked to get the pole again but we were in a good spot” said the driver.
As the green flag waved to begin the 75-lap event Ranger hustled the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge forward into third position. Following the first caution period of the day Ranger pushed ahead into second position just after the restart.
“After that I wanted to save the car a bit for the end of the race” explained Ranger.
On a late restart Ranger looked for an opportunity to surge the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge into the lead, however plenty of rugged racing shuffled him back in the field.
“We have a lot of banging around and I got pushed out of the way, so then it was about fighting to get back up to the front” said Ranger.
The yellow flag would wave once more sending the race into overtime and Ranger seized the opportunity on the final restart to push his #27 Mopar Parts Dodge forward. Ranger and was running second with the checkered flag in sight. A valiant attempt for the win coming to the checkered flag would fall just short and Ranger would settle for a second place result.
“I’m really happy with a second place finish today, the car was very fast all day and it’s very good for the points standings” said Ranger.
With his second place finish Ranger now jumps up to third in the overall standings after four events.
Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team get back in action Saturday July 15th at Exhibition Place at the Toronto Indy.
