@andrew_ranger •@NASCAR • #NASCARPintysSeries •@wyantgrprace •Saskatoon, SK- (July 27, 2016)- Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge jumped right back into action Wednesday night as the NASCAR Pinty’s Series wrapped up the annual western swing at Wyant Group Raceway in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Ranger just missed setting a new track record but did score his second pole position start of the year and claimed a top five finish in the race.
During the afternoon practice session the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge showed to be one of the quickest cars on the 1/3-mile oval.
“We were second quick in the final practice and I was quite happy with the car” said Ranger.
Ranger put up a lightning quick qualifying time of 14.657 seconds in the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge, narrowly missing out on the track record but fast enough to secure the number one starting spot.
“It would have been nice to get the record but the most important thing is to start up front,” said the driver.
As the green flag waved for 250 laps of action Ranger worked hard to keep the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge out in front of the field for the first 91 laps of the event.
“The car was very neutral in the early going and felt very good,” stated Ranger.
As the laps ticked away the handling of the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge did begin to go away and Ranger would surrender the race lead.
“The car was getting a little bit loose and difficult to handle,” explained Ranger.
When the scheduled mid-race break occurred the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team went to work and along with fresh tires and fuel made handling adjustments hoping to alleviate the problem. However the car was never as good as it was early in the race. “I could push hard for a while but just couldn’t get back up to the front with the car being loose” said the driver.
Ranger would cross the finish line with a fifth place result; his fourth top-five finish of the year.
“We did the best we could to collect points” said Ranger. “We still have the points lead and we’re headed to Trois-Rivieres where I’ve had a lot of success” he added.
After seven races Andrew Ranger leads the overall championship by one point.
Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team are back in action next at the Grand Prix of Trois Rivieres August 14th.
