@Andrew_Ranger •@NASCARHomeTrack • #NASCAR Pintys Series •Autodrome Chaudiere, QC (June 24, 2016)- Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team had a difficult start to round number three of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series on Friday night at the Autodrome Chaudière.
However Ranger used his skill to find his way to the front of the field before misfortune dropped them back in the pack.
On the challenging quarter mile oval Ranger posted some quick laps during afternoon practice but found himself starting the 300-lap feature event from the 11th position.
“The competition is so close and we had an okay lap but had to start back in the field,” said Ranger.
From the drop of the green flag Ranger was on the charge in the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge using the outside line to move forward in the field. During a lengthy green flag run from the start of the race Ranger was able to maneuver all the way up to third position before a caution slowed the field on lap 86.
“The way the car was handling forced me to use the higher line,” explained the driver. “But I was able to make it work and gained some positions”.
When the race returned to green flag conditions Ranger was hunting for more and moved up to second before the scheduled midway caution allowing teams to service the cars. During the planned pit stop the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team added fuel and installed fresh tires.
When the green flag waved Ranger charging hard on the outside powered the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge to the front of the field. It looked as though Ranger would continue to make the outside work as he held off several challenges to stay out front of the field.
In the late stages of the race as Ranger worked hard to stay out front the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge spun coming out of corner four sending him back in the field. Ranger used all his skills to fight back for an eighth place finish.
“It was a hard night for the Mopar team. With the big motor and extra weight we have to carry the car was better running up high. The track was a little slick with some fluid on the track and we had a spin. It’s too bad we had a good race going. Thanks to the team for working really hard to improve the car all day”.
Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team will return to action on July 3rd on the road course at Circuit ICAR.
