VALLEE JONCTION, QC (June 30, 2019)- Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team continued to perform at an elite level during round number three of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series this past weekend at the Autodrome Chaudière in Vallee Jonction, Quebec. After challenging for the lead during the race the Roxton Pond, Quebec native claimed a fourth place finish at the first event of the season in his home province.
During a brief afternoon practice session Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team adjusted to find the optimum set up for the car in the 300-lap feature event. Ranger successfully used the outside line a year ago to capture the race win.
“I’m not sure if it will be possible to run outside with an earlier start time” explained Ranger.
After posting the seventh fastest time in qualifying Ranger took the green flag in the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge and quickly began to move forward. With inclement weather looming it was a hard charging field of competitors right from the beginning of the race and slowed several times with incidents. Ranger would run as high as second in the first half of the race.
Passing the mid-point of the race making it an official event a competition caution for service to the cars allowed the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team to fill the car with fuel, change tires and make some handling adjustments.
“The car was good, but we couldn’t get the kind of run we needed on the outside” explained the driver.
In the second half of the race Ranger continued to try and push the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge toward the front of the field but fell short of his goal. The rain showers did eventually and force an end to the race on lap 286. Still despite the car not performing as needed he would claim a fourth-place finish, his third consecutive top-five result to start the season.
“Unfortunately, we didn’t get more out of the car today, but we got as much as we could and that’s important when you look at the championship, to maximize your points. Big thanks to the whole Mopar team for their hard work, I’m looking forward to getting back to Toronto” said Ranger.
Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team return to action Saturday July 13that Exhibition Place in Toronto as part of the Toronto Indy weekend. Ranger is the defending champion of this event.
