HAGERSVILLE, ON (June 2, 2019)- Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team served notice to all NASCAR Pinty’s Series competitors that they are ready to claim another championship. During round two of the 2019 season this past Sunday at Jukasa Motor Speedway near Hamilton, Ontario Ranger scored his series best 25th career victory and took over top spot in the championship standings.
During the Saturday practice and qualifying sessions Ranger consistently posted quick laps in the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge and for the second consecutive year claimed the pole position to begin the APC 200. Rain would envelope the area later in the day and the race was deferred until Sunday.
In an interesting move Ranger chose to start his #27 Mopar Parts Dodge from the outside lane. Ranger’s use of the high groove would prove throughout the race would serve him well.
“The outside is somewhere that I am comfortable running and it helps to save the car a little bit for later in the race” explained Ranger.
Though he would surrender the top position as the race progressed and Ranger made scheduled pit stops for fuel and fresh left side tires for his #27 Mopar Parts Dodge he found his way to the front for good on lap 122. A couple of late cautions would bunch the field up but Ranger was able to power his way forward and claim his first win of the 2019 season.
“Those late restarts I was a little bit nervous,” said the driver. “I chose the inside to give me the best chance, you never know what can happen but it worked out for us. I have to thank everyone at Team Mopar, the DJK team, my crew chief Dave Wight the whole team worked really hard and gave me such a good car. This is a great start to the season”.
Ranger would lead a race high 82 laps and the victory at Jukasa combined with his runner up finish in the season opener puts him in top spot of the overall championship standings.
Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team return to action Saturday June 29that the Autodrome Chaudière in Vallee Jonction, Quebec. Ranger is the defending champion of this event.
