HAGERSVILLE, ON (September 29, 2019)- Following a season filled with consistent results along with four race victories, Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team concluded the 2019 NASCAR Pinty’s Series racing calendar with a fourth-place finish at Jukasa Motor Speedway near Hamilton, Ontario on Saturday night. Ranger finished the year with a total of 550 Championship points and claimed his third series title.
As they’ve demonstrated all year, the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team showed plenty of speed right from the start of the day posting the third quickest time during the afternoon practice. Only running a handful of laps during the 70-minute session Ranger felt very confident in his car.
“We’re good” he said and smiled after exiting the car after practice. “We don’t want to run too much to save the car” he added.
Rain showers in the area would wash out qualifying so by rule the teams lined up according to practice speeds and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge would be on the inside of row two for the start of the 200-lap event. In the early going Ranger again showed plenty of speed but didn’t force the issue. Coming into the final race with an 11-point lead in the championship chase allowed him to be a cautious in his approach.
Still just before the midway point Ranger pushed the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge into the race lead for the first time.
“I wanted to make sure we got to lead a lap for the bonus point” explained Ranger afterwards.
In the second half of the race the Ranger used discretion in his approach and didn’t force the issue, yet still managed to keep the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge ahead of the second place driver in the championship for the balance of the race and would claim a fourth place finish as the checkered flag waved and clinch the title.
The scene was sheer joy for Ranger the entire #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team after the race.
“I’m so happy to win the Pinty’s championship again” said Ranger. “And the first championship for Mopar is very special. The whole team, all the guys worked so hard all season, I can’t thank everyone enough” he added.
In previous seasons Ranger and Team Mopar had been close to winning it all but came up a little short, but not this year.
“Four oval wins and a consistency all season” said Ranger after the race. “We had some bad luck in the past, but everyone worked so hard in the off season. And now to have the championship again after ten years is just amazing, I’m so happy” he added.
Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team finished each of the 13 races inside the top-ten, claimed podium finishes in eight events including victories this year at the spring race at Jukasa, along with rounds in Saskatoon, Edmonton and New Hampshire.
Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge wish to thank the many fans that supported the team all season and they look forward to seeing them at the races when they defend their title next year.
