@andrew_ranger •@Sunset_Speedway •#NASCAR Pintys Series • @NASCARHomeTrack •Stroud, ON- (June 18, 2016)- It wasn’t the night that Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team expected during round number two of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series at Sunset Speedway near Innisfil, Ontario on Saturday night.
Despite much adversity the driver worked hard to fight for a top-ten race result.
Right from the opening practice session the team knew it would be a challenging night for the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge. Ranger would roll off for the 300-lap race from the 15th starting position and take advantage of an early caution period to make a pit stop for fuel and adjustments.
“The car was difficult to handle through the corners so we wanted to make some changes and hope to used some strategy later in the race” said the driver.
When Ranger returned to the fight he powered the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge forward in the field, making his way into the top-ten. “I was trying all kinds of different lines through the corners to try and be quicker” said Ranger.
As the race laps ticked away Ranger continued his fight to keep the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge near the front while waiting until later than other competitors to pit for fresh tires. However that plan didn’t work entirely as expected either.
“The rules allowed for only two right side tires for this race, we would have been in better shape if we could have put four new tires on the car” explained Ranger.
Doing all he could in the closing stages Ranger maneuvered the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge across the finish line in eighth position, seven spots ahead of where he started.
“It was a long night,” sighed the driver. “But I did the best I could, and so did the team who worked very hard. We got the points we could and now we’ll get ready for next week” he added.
After two events Ranger maintains the overall championship points lead.
Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team return to action this coming Friday June 24th at the Autodrome Chaudière. This race was rescheduled due to weather.
