LONDON, ON – Pete Shepherd III is poised to re-create momentum from five seasons ago in his last NASCAR Pinty’s Series season. Shepherd is focused and he believes that all the pieces are in place to re-create that success.
“All of the equipment at Jacombs Racing is up to date and very strong. We have a lot of returning members from our crew, including Ray McCaughey, who will be the Crew Chief this season. Our expectations are high in terms of performance and we are really excited to see what we can do.”
This will be the first oval race on the 2018 NASCAR Pinty’s Series schedule, and it will also be the fastest oval event in terms of speed. The track will possess several challenges for Shepherd and the rest of the field at Jukasa.
“The track obviously has a lot of speed in it and can be forgiving at times, but you pay the price if you over-drive the car. You can lose grip in a hurry if you get in too hard with Pinty’s Series car, and that can cause tire issues later in the race. It can also create immediate problems for the driver,” laughed Shepherd.
This will mark the first of several events for Pete Shepherd in 2018, and it wouldn’t be possible he didn’t have such a strong supporting group.
“It’s so important to talk about our sponsors, and I want to thank the people behind the scenes who make this possible. Tom Baker has supported me throughout my racing career since the age of 13 and continues to do so. I’d also like to thank Robert Stanners, Robin and Haze Willoughby, Bill and Kurtis Connell, Mike Almand, Frank Cipra, Bob and Dan Bailey, obviously my entire family has been in my corner throughout my career. I can’t thank my parents enough, and my wife Brittany is a huge part of whatever success I achieve!”
NASCAR Pinty’s Series Practice begins at 1:30pm followed by group qualifying at 4:40pm. Racing begins immediately after NASCAR qualifying for the OSCAAR Hot Rods and Modifieds. The NPS autograph session will take place at 6:45pm and the green flag will drop at 8:05pm for the Rankin 200 on Saturday June 16th.
