CAYUGA, ONTARIO – Qualifying in the Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series presented by Wiseco Performance Products was completed at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park.
This event, the third in each drag racing series for 2012, was held during the track’s Canadian Nitro Nationals.
Taking the number one spot in and his third of the season in PMRA competition was Bruce Boland of Hamilton, ON. Boland, a three-time champion, posted a 6.005-second, 238.05-mph pass with his 1941 Willys Pro Modified. Second in qualifying was Derek Hawker of Corbyville, ON, and third was Kenny Lang of Grand Pointe, MB.
Peter Farber of Baldwinville, MS, and Eric Latino of Whitby, ON rounded out the top five.
In the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, Dave Leverentz of Irving, NY, took the number one spot in Top Dragster with a 6.183-second, 223.02-mph run. James Lichty of Linwood, ON, placed second, followed by Rick Kopp of Burlington, ON, Mike Hinbest of Orangeville, ON, and Billy White of Wartburg, ON.
On the Top Sportsman side of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, two-time champion Kevin Wicke of Stratford, ON, took the number one spot with a 6.797-second, 203.09-mph effort in his Dodge Stratus. Mike Wagg of Waterdown, ON, placed second, Darryl McMillen of Goderich, ON, took third, followed by Spencer Hyde of Stratford, ON, and Paul Martin of Breslau, ON.
In the PBSS, Kevin McKay of Ingersoll, ON, rode his Pro Bike Suzuki to the number one qualifying spot with a 7.711-second, 169.10-mph run. John Orfanidis of Toronto, ON, placed second with his Pro Bike entry. Dan Cryderman of Thamesville, ON, also in Pro Bike, qualified third, while Chris Bondi of Aurora, ON, with his Pro Sled Skidoo, and Ted Glinny of Milton, ON, rounded out the top five with his Pro Bike entry.
Eliminations for the PMRA, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the PBSS get underway Sunday, June 24, at Cayuga, starting at 11:15 a.m.
