PICTON, ON (March 21, 2022)- Throughout the years, Prince Edward County has become a hotbed of motorsports.

The desire for racing performance and success has been passed down from different generations of the same family. From her first laps at the controls of a Mini Stock, Geneva Sheffield has carried on a tradition that began with her great uncle Gary Sheffield and her father Ken Sheffield more than 50 years ago.

With a new season less than a couple of months away, the 28-year-old Picton, Ontario racer – who works as an area bylaw enforcement officer – has announced plans for a limited schedule in 2022, focusing on a series of some of the province’s bigger events. It isn’t a choice she wanted to make but feels it’s the best option to keep her No. 8 DIRTcar Sportsman-Modified on the track.

“I’ve always loved being at the racetrack but this can be a very expensive hobby,” admitted Sheffield, who ran the Applefest Shootout at Brighton and the Northeast Fall Nationals at Brockville in 2021. “Some close friends and family members have stepped-up to help our team over the years but we’ll need to land some additional sponsorship support if we’re going to be able to run with the contenders.”

Even if she isn’t racing her own equipment, Geneva Sheffield will likely still spend most of her spring, summer and fall weekends at the racetrack. Her boyfriend Tyler Lamarche is also a racer and competes in the provincial Mini Stock ranks. The duo enjoys hiking, fishing and spending time with family and friends in their time away from the track, but there is nothing that will keep them away from chasing the next checkered flag.

“Tyler and I are both looking to bring some new backers into our programs for the new season,” Geneva Sheffield confirmed. “Having their identity and branding on a couple of cars in different divisions would provide some exciting marketing opportunities and promotional prospects. We’d be happy to discuss our schedules and packages with interested businesses or services.”

To open the 2022 local racing season, Geneva Sheffield’s DIRTcar Sportsman-Modified will carry support from Celtic Treasures, Sauve’s Home Heating, The Vinyl Solution, Lyng Images, High Banks Rumblings and Clarke Motorsports Communications. The Mini Stock wheeled by Tyler Lamarche will be sponsored by Champions Race Supplies & Auto Repair, Sauve’s Home Heating, Mike’s Auto Service, The Vinyl Solution, Lyng Images, High Banks Rumblings and Clarke Motorsports Communications.

For information on joining the program for the teams, contact Sheffield through www.facebook.com/genevasheffieldracing or Lamarche at www.facebook.com/tylerlamarcheracing.
