PORT COLBORNE, ONTARIO… “The Natural” Dale Planck from Cortland, NY drove his way to his second straight DIRTcar Modified feature victory on Xtreme Custom Exhaust and Sharpe’s Automotive night at the New Humberstone Speedway, while defending Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Champion and defending divisional champion Cody McPherson from St. Catharines, Ontario picked up his first win of the season in the Cosco Haulage DIRTcar Sportsman.

“The Fonz” Jason Fontaine from Port Colborne, Ontario picked up his second win of the season in the J.C. Auto Street Stocks while Kyle Pelrine from Beamsville, Ontario picked up his first win of the season in the Trackside Decals Mini Stocks.

Erick Rudolph and qualifying winner Robbie Krull led the field of DIRTcar Modifieds to the double green flags of starter John Veach and it was Rudolph leading the way in the Snyder Industries 25. Krull was leading a three car battle for second with Todd Gordon and Dale Planck, driving the Page Trucking 7z for Mike Payne Motorsports.

The races first caution came out on lap six for the spinning Lance Willix II in turn one. On the restart it was Rudolph showing the way with Planck move from fourth to second in his Big Block Modified. Planck then quickly went to work on Rudolph just as the caution came out once again for Lance Willix.

On the lap nine restart, Planck pulled the slide job to take the race lead away from Rudolph with Gordon, Krull and Tommy Flannigan racing in the top five. At the halfway point, Planck continued to show the way with Rudolph, Gordon, Flannigan, and Chad Chevalier in the top five with Krull and Mat Williamson racing behind the Robitaille Racing 12 machine of Chevalier.

Bill Bleich came to a stop in turn three to bring out the races third caution on lap 19. During the caution, Krull, who was racing inside the top five for most of the event went to the pits and was unable to complete the 30 lap feature distance.

Planck pulled away from Rudolph, the point’s leader entering the night’s racing action  with Tommy Flannigan in third as Todd Gordon and Mat Williamson were fighting for fourth.

“The Natural” Dale Planck would drive away in his Big Block to pick up his second straight win in the DIRTcar Modifieds. Erick Rudolph would finish in second and was followed to the line by Tommy Flannigan in third with Todd Gordon just edging out Mat Williamson to come home in fourth. “Mike Payne gives me a great racecar each and every race and this is the raciest track that I have raced at in a long time” said Planck in Victory Lane.

Gord McIntosh and Chris Bellamy led the field of Cosco Haulage DIRTcar Sportsman to the green flag and it was Bellamy leading the way on the opening circuit.

Brad Rouse got spun after contact with Jeff Leggett to bring out the first yellow flag of the event. On the restart, the field went four wide exiting turn two and three wide exiting turn four for second place but Bellamy was able to keep the advantage. A multi-car incident brought out the caution once again on lap three and on the restart, Bellamy was joined on the front row by Adam Leslie and it was Leslie taking the race lead on lap four.

Back in the pack, BJ Willard was racing with his Cousin and defending Mr. DIRT Sportsman Champion Cody McPherson and Jeff Armstrong and went three wide for several circuits. Points leader Gary Lindberg was involved in an incident with Jeff Leggett and Darrell Farraway to bring out the caution on lap 10. The restart saw Cody McPherson race into second with Gord McIntosh, BJ Willard and Joey Mastrioanni racing in the top five. McPherson went to the outside of Leslie and took over the race lead on lap twelve. Meanwhile Justin Sharpe, who started 20th on the grid was up to fifth by the races halfway point.

After a lap 15 restart, McPherson pulled away from Leslie, Willard, Greg Panunte and Sharpe racing in the top five. Just two laps later, Willard and Leslie came together and Adam Leslie ended up in the gulch outside turns three and four. On the restart, Cody McPherson pulled away after BJ Willard jumped the cushion and lost several positions. Austin Wood moved into second with Panunte in third, Sharpe in fourth and Adam Hilton racing in fifth place. Points leader Gary Lindberg raced his way back through the field after an early spin to race in sixth with a handful of laps remaining.

Defending Mr. DIRT Sportsman Cody McPherson would drive to his first win of the season. Austin Wood would come home in second and was followed to the line by Panunte, Sharpe and Adam Hilton.

“We have been struggling here a lot this season but tonight we put it all together” stated McPherson in victory lane after picking up his first win of the season at Humberstone. “We caught some breaks tonight and we got it done.”

Rookie Mike Greene and Jason Fontaine led the field of J.C. Auto Sales Street Stocks to the green flag and it was “the Fonz” showing the way.

Lee Winger passed Greene to take over second on lap two. Cory Turner, Mike Greene, and James Thompson went three wide for fourth place behind Vince Fargnoli with Thompson winning the battle. Thompson and Turner was able to get around Fargnoli for third and fourth respectively and went side by side for several circuits.

Winger was able to reel in Fontaine and took to the outside of the speedway but “The Fonz” would pick up the win. Winger in second and was followed by Cory Turner, James Thompson and Mike Greene completed the top five.

“Its been a struggle to get back to victory lane and we are fighting for a championship” said Fontaine in victory lane.

Hilary Haegens and Colton Ledingham were on the front row for the Mike Knapp Ford Pro 4 Trucks feature event and the field was in parade formation for the opening couple of circuits. Ledingham was able to pull away from Haegens on lap three to grab the lead. Defending divisional champion Mike Toovey was following the lead duo with 37 year veteran Andy Imbeault trying to get by Toovey for third place. Ledingham continued to show the way at the races halfway point with Haegens, Toovey, Imbeault and Greg Haegens racing in the top five.

Toovey was able to get around Hilary Haegens to take over second place on lap nine and began his chase of Ledingham, who was pulling away from the field. Colton Ledingham would win over Mike Toovey; Hilary Haegens came home in third and was followed to the line by Taylor Vanderzanden and Greg Haegens.

“It feels amazing to get my first win” said Ledingham, who picked up his first career feature win.

Nate Monahan and Garnet Wilson led the field of Trackside Decals to the green flag and it was Wilson getting the lead on lap one with qualifying winner Kyle Pelrine taking over second with Brandon Iudiciani racing in third early on.

Pelrine used the bottom of the speedway to take over the race lead on lap four while Iudiciani, Evan Curtis and Garnet Wilson racing three wide for second on lap five with Curtis moving into third place. Kyle Rothwell moved into the top five on lap six and when the cross flags came out, moved into third while Sam Iftody moved into the top five.
