RIVER GLADE, NB – February 14th, 2017) – Petty International Raceway is excited to announce their stock car racing schedule for the 2017 season.

The schedule features 11 racing cards over eight weekends from May to September and features a number of unique stock car house divisions and touring series that are sure to thrill all racing fans.

The high banked bullring will open for the season on Saturday, May 27th with the Canadian National Autism Foundation (CNAF) Kids Race presented by Acura of Moncton. In their eighth season across the country, the CNAF Kids Race is a platform for autism research and awareness. This marks the first time a CNAF Kids Race has been held in the province of New Brunswick. All Petty International Raceway house divisions will race at the May 27th event, including the Limited Late Models (Sportsman), Westwood Estates Street Stocks, Mister Transmission Mini Stocks, Leisure Days RV Bandoleros, Women on Wheels and the Atlantic Modifieds. All divisions will run for double points on the day, the first of two such events on the season.

The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour will visit Petty International Raceway thrice in 2017. The June 10th and July 22nd dates will see the Maritime Series contest 150-lap affairs while the Saturday, August 26th stop on the 53rd Jones Auto Body River Glade International weekend will be a 200-lap feature. The 200-lap feature is only one of four features over 150-laps in length for the Series in 2017. Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS), 2016 Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour champion Cole Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS) and Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS) won the three stops for the Series at Petty International Raceway in 2016.

Friday, July 21st and Friday, August 25th will see racing the night prior to the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour appearances on Saturday evening. July 21st will see championship point racing with a Limited Late Model 100 as the main attraction. The August 25th card will kick off Jones Auto Body River Glade International weekend with 125-laps for the Limited Late Models, the longest race for the class of the season at Petty International Raceway. The Westwood Estates Street Stocks and Mister Transmission Mini Stocks will play support on both of those Friday night cards.

The popular MetalCore/DR Scrap Metals Night of Destruction returns for a third consecutive season on Saturday, July 8th. A Demolition Derby will close the event that will feature a full card of stock car racing which will include the Limited Late Models, Atlantic Modifieds, Westwood Estates Street Stocks, Mister Transmission Mini Stocks and Leisure Days RV Bandoleros.

The Fifth Annual Caleb Dunn Memorial sees a few changes to the card in 2017. The event will stay on the New Brunswick Day long weekend in August but will see a move to Saturday night, August 5th from the Sunday date in the past. The race will serve as the Mid Season Championships at Petty International Raceway with double points in all house divisions. Prior to racing, the young fans in the stands will be able to come down to the race track for Kiddie Rides with the cars and stars of the show. Alexandra O’Blenis (Boundary Creek, NB) scored a popular win in the Sportsman portion of the Caleb Dunn Memorial in 2016. The Caleb Dunn Memorial Mid Season Championships will be presented by the Atlantic Dodge Dealers.

Saturday, September 9th will serve as the point championship finale at Petty International Raceway with five divisions crowning season long titlists. In a twist for the final point night, four classes will run twin features with each feature event paying pivotal championship points. The Limited Late Models will run a pair of 50-lap features, the Westwood Estates Street Stocks will take to the track in two 25-lap mains, the Mister Transmission Mini Stocks will excite fans twice in 20-lap blasts while the Leisure Days RV Bandoleros will hit the track twice on the evening for 15-lap events. The newly formed Maritime Mini Stock Tour will also contest a 50-lap feature on September 9th.

The Mike Stevens Memorial 200 Weekend presented by R Stevens Mechanical and Carnahan Property Management will wrap up the Petty International Raceway season on Friday, September 22nd and Saturday, September 23rd. Friday evening will see a Street Stock 75 presented by Westwood Estates, the finale in the Petty Raceway series for the Atlantic Modifieds and Women on Wheels along with non point features for the Mister Transmission Mini Stock and Leisure Days RV Bandolero divisions.

The Late Models take centre stage on Saturday, September 23rd with two big events. The Super Late Models will take to the track in the Mike Stevens Memorial 200 while the Limited Late Model class will close the year with a 75-lap non point feature. Jonathan Hicken (Brudenell, PE) scored his second straight Mike Stevens Memorial 200 win in 2016 while Ken Mackenzie Jr. (Salisbury, NB) nailed down a breakout victory in the Limited Late Model feature as a part of the Mike Stevens Memorial presented by R Stevens Mechanical and Carnahan Property Management weekend last October.

The Maritime League of Legends Tour will make two stops to Petty International Raceway in 2017, up from a single race in 2016. The Maritime League of Legends Tour will excite fans with 50-lap features on Saturday, July 22nd and Saturday, August 26th.

In addition to the 2017 schedule, Petty International Raceway has also made a number of other announcements in advance of the new season.

· The Atlantic Modifieds will have a home in 2017 at Petty International Raceway. The division, which began as a touring series in 2003, will have five races scattered throughout the Petty International Raceway schedule and will compete for a track championship in those five races. These events will also count for points on the Atlantic Modified Tour. A complete Atlantic Modified Tour schedule was not available as of press time.

· Westwood Estates have come on board to join the Petty International Raceway family of marketing partners to boost the Street Stock division in 2017. While they will sponsor the full Street Stock schedule, they will also become the presenting partner of the Westwood Estates Street Stock Triple Crown. The three-race series will have its own point championship and will crown a championship over the three extended distance races for the class. The Westwood Estates Street Stock Triple Crown races include a 50-lap feature on May 27th, a 50-lap feature on August 5th and a 75-lap finale on September 22nd.

· The Junior Fan program will return in the 2017 season. During all eleven Petty International Raceway events, a Junior Fan will be selected from the crowd and will be able to take a ride around the high banked oval with their favorite driver during the intermission.

· Recently announced on PettyRaceway.com was a new camping site plan for the 2017 season. Fans and teams are encouraged to visit the track’s website for complete information if they plan on camping at the track this coming Summer.
