KESWICK, ON- Super Stock rising star Paul Geniole Jr. is ready for a breakout performance at Peterborough Speedway’s Autumn Colours Classic on October 10th, 11th and 12th. The Keswick-based wheelman is looking to continue his recent hot streak, after knocking down a 4th place finish at Sunset Speedway’s lauded ‘Velocity 250’ event on September 28th.
Geniole’s reserve was on full display at Sunset, bouncing back from an ill-handling racecar in practice to secure a heat race victory and head-turning top-5 performance in the 50-lap A Main.
“We didn’t really know what to expect, in terms of setup”, admits Geniole. “The track temperature was a lot higher than we had anticipated it was going to be, so we initially had a hard time getting the car to turn. With only two practice sessions all day, we really had to pick our spots in terms of what adjustments to make”
“Fortunately, we hit on something and the car came to life for the heat races”, continues Geniole. “On Sunday, before they called the feature to the lineup area, we made a last minute spring adjustment and it woke the car right up”
Geniole ran within the top-5 for the entirety of the race, holding on for a 4th place finish – ahead of numerous current and former track champions and feature victors from across the province.
“That was one of the best fields I’ve ever raced against”, says Geniole. “To finish 4th out of the 42 cars that showed up here hoping to qualify is an amazing feeling”
“We’ve practically lived in the shop for the last half of the season”, smiles the well-spoken up-and-comer. “Looking back at the names that we were able to keep in our rearview mirror, it definitely lets us know that the hard work has all been worthwhile”
With Sunset Speedway’s season at a close, Geniole will now ready his No. 81 Graham Connor Painting/Brown Brothers Roofing Camaro for Peterborough’s Crown Jewel event on October 10th, 11th and 12th.
“The Autumn Colours Classic is the perfect challenge to close our season with”, details Geniole. “We ran amongst feature winners and champions for 50-laps at Sunset and never once looked out of place. I just hope we can do the same thing at Peterborough”
“Every Super Stock racer that can even be considered top-tier will be at Peterborough. A strong run at ‘the Classic’ is exactly the kind of performance I want to give my team before the end of the season”
“Every single person that’s a part of our program works so hard to make it a reality, I just want to give them something to be proud of before we start to prepare for 2015”
