KESWICK, ON- Following a strong performance in his last outing on August 30th, Super Stock mainstay Paul Geniole Jr. is more motivated than ever to break into victory lane at Sunset Speedway.
“That was a huge shot of confidence”, says Geniole when asked about his last race. “We’ve been chasing a few things in this car all season, and we made a few adjustments that really woke it up”
“We had an awesome run, but developed brake issues late in the race that set us back a bit”
Geniole’s No. 81 Graham Connor Painting/Brown Brothers Roofing Camaro led over half of the 30-lap event, before the aforementioned brake issues relegated the personable up-and-comer to a 4th place finish.
“I’m not sure I’ve ever been so excited finishing 4th”, admits Geniole, flashing a smile. “It was an affirmation that we were finally moving in the right direction with this car. Now that the car’s come alive, I’m excited to see what we can do heading into the Playoff Season”
The Px2 Racing team will next turn their attention to Sunset Speedway’s 50-lap ‘Championship Night’ event on September 13th. The Keswick, ON product will enter in search of his second career Super Stock feature victory.
“I feel as though the checkered flag is in sight, now more than ever”, says Geniole. “We want that win more than anybody else on this roster. I can promise you that. We’re hungry. We’ve been studying this car and doing everything we can to bring it up to speed. I really feel as though it’s as good as it’s ever been right now”
“The 50-lap races are a lot different from what we normally race”, continues the second-generation competitor. “You have to preserve your equipment a lot more. Save your tires and brakes, keep the fenders on the car and wait for the competition to fall off. Our car has been consistent in 30-lap races this year, so with the right adjustments I think we’ll have a great package for Saturday”
The event is sure to draw one of the strongest car counts Sunset has seen all season. And with the added competition and exposure, Geniole is quick to explain just how much of a difference that makes.
“A win in that type of environment would be huge for our team. We want to beat the very best that Sunset has to offer, and Championship Night is going to give us that opportunity. We have a pretty busy schedule set for the Playoff Season, and a strong run this weekend would set the tone for what we hope to do in the Fall”
“Hard work pays off”, continues Geniole. “Hopefully we can showcase that on Saturday night”
