PARKER THOMPSON:
“It was an absolute team effort from a great group of people to make our first round of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America such a success. There was some adversity that both the JDX team and I had to overcome but to come away with two top 5’s with our No. 9 Byers Porsche entry is a testament to everyone coming together and performing. From our ownership, engineering, mechanics and our sponsors, by all accounts we made a great start to 2021. Now it’s time to carry that momentum into the rest of the season.”
SEAN McALISTER:
“We had a pretty rough start to the opening week of Porsche Carrera Cup NA but we were able to work through that and turn it into two great races. We were a little off pace in the practice sessions and I made a couple of crucial mistakes in qualifying, putting us P11 for both races. We figured some things out with the setup on the car and I was able to keep the car clean and had some good luck being in the right place at the right time in Race 1, capitalizing on and opportunity and moving from P11 to P8. In Race 2, I had much better pace after focusing on my driving and trying to minimize errors. I was able to move through the pack in a very eventful race, finishing P6. Both races were exciting and action packed with stuff happening all around me. This is easily the most intense racing I’ve been involved in. I can’t thank the JDX team enough for a great weekend. It was awesome getting back to the paddock and seeing a lot of familiar faces and many new ones as well.”
TIM PAPPAS:
“I want to thank JDX Racing and Porsche for a successful first weekend of Carrera Cup. The new 992 Cup Car is amazing and I really enjoyed my time behind the wheel. One of my goals for the weekend was a podium finish – and I’m very happy to have achieved that goal. The cars are very fast, fun, challenging to drive and the field is competitive – what’s not to like? We are looking forward to getting out and doing more testing prior to round two and continuing to fight for podium finishes throughout the season.”
JEREMY DALE, MANAGING PARTNER/JDX RACING:
“I’m very proud of the entire JDX Team and our three drivers. Everyone did a tremendous job this week for the launch of Carrera Cup North America. The field is super competitive and the racing was very tight, very close and all of our guys did a really nice job improving every session and going quicker all the time. Certainly in Race 2, it was great to see Tim on the podium, it was great to see Sean move up as many places as he did and to watch the battle Parker had with Leh Keen. I think in Parker’s case, we had a P3 car, we just didn’t have the track position to get there. I believe we could have been on the podium, but that will be for another day. Now with the first race weekend behind us we need to go back and look at all the data and information we’ve gathered, get back out to the track, do some testing to get ready to go racing for the second race weekend of the season. This Championship is going to be extremely hard fought, extremely difficult and we’re certainly ready for the fight.”
