(December 11, 2021)- Over the past two seasons the dedicated OSCAAR fans have continued to support the sport we all love through some very tough times. As a Thank you to all our great fans OSCAAR is dedicating the 2022 race season to each and everyone of you.
A full schedule is in place for the Mods and Hot Rods teams as they travel to all your favorite speedways to bring you the best in short track racing.
The season will kick off at Sunset Speedway as part of Spring Velocity on May 21-22 with qualifying on Saturday and feature events on Sunday. The series will return to Sunset two other times in the summer with stops on June 25th and July 23rd. The playoff season plays an important part in the chase for the 2022 championships and Sunset Speedway hosts round 1 with it’s annual Fall Velocity September 17th and 18th.
Perhaps that most sought after trophy is the surfboard that Sauble Speedway awards the feature winners. This year the Mod and Hot Rod drivers will have two chances to grab on for their man cave. Saturday June 18th and August 20th are the dates to circle on your calendar to pack the camper and head to Sauble Falls Tent and Trailer Park for a holiday and some great racing on Saturday night that only OSCAAR can provide.
Delaware Speedway has been in the news since their final event of 2021. Every driver in Ontario is excited to try the newly paved half mile in 2022. The first opportunity for OSCAAR teams will be The First Annual Hot Rod and Mod Nationals, taking place on Friday July 1st and July 2nd. Teams will compete in a complete show each day accompanying APC, The Quick Wick series and other national touring divisions. Last fall Delaware Speedway hosted their first-year end special and with huge success, OSCAAR will once again be a part of the excitement. September 24th will see OSCAAR teams compete along side the APC series points finale. If last year is any indication you will want to reserve your seat and camping site when reservations open early next year.
The fastest 1/3 Mile Oval of Peterborough Speedway will play host to the traveling OSCAAR road show twice in 2022. The August long weekend tradition will see the Mods and Hot Rods racing on July 30th. This will be the teams only time to dial their cars in for the Autumn Colours Classic October7th-9th where the 2022 Championships will be awarded.
The Hot Rods continue to be the only touring series in Ontario and perhaps Canada that compete on dirt and pavement. Brighton Speedway will once again play host to the Hot Rod teams as they put on the dirt tires to tackle the “clay by the bay”. This race always provides some great excitement as teams call on all their skills to acclimate themselves to the dirt.
Flamboro Speedway has been a main stay in the Ontario racing scene for over 50 years and OSCAAR is honoured to be a part of that long history. OSCAAR teams will be making two stops this season at the legendary track. August 27th will be the first event followed up with playoff season tradition Frostfest on Saturday October 1st.
The 2022 season is seeing new drivers register for both the Mods and Hot Rods. Combine the new talent with the seasoned veterans and this season will be on that you will not want to miss a single lap of the racing action.
Fans this is your season and OSCAAR is proud to be able to be a small part of it.
