PORT ELGIN, ON- After a one week foray into the Pro Late Model ranks, third-year competitor Nick Goetz is ready to return to Limited Late Model racing.
“We had a great run in Limited Late Model trim at the Spring Derby 100”, says Goetz. “Last week, we rain with the Pro Late Models and chased an engine problem all day. My crew worked their guts out just trying to diagnose the issue. It definitely was not the outing we were looking for”
On May 17th, Goetz will strap back into his Limited Late Model for the inaugural regular season event of the 2014 Sunset Speedway schedule.
“My team and I made a commitment to race fulltime at Sunset over the off-season”, explains ‘Livewire’. “We’re here to learn from some of the best in the province, and hopefully crack the top-5 in points. With only 10 points-paying events on the schedule, every Saturday counts. And it all starts with Week 1”
Well aware of the importance of his first regular season outing, Goetz reached out to a longtime friend for help in navigating the ultra-talented Sunset Speedway field – 2-time OSCAAR Super Late Model champion Brandon Watson.
“Brandon [Watson] will be my Crew Chief on May 17th”, smiles Goetz. “It’s a huge opportunity to work with a guy like that. Brandon’s won in almost every race car he’s ever sat in. I’m excited to pick his brain a little bit and see what pointers he can give me”
May 17th’s event at Sunset Speedway is scheduled for a 6:00 start. Gates times and ticket prices are available at www.SunsetSpeedway.ca
Nick Goetz is sponsored by Lake Huron Rod & Gun, Mondo Car Wash, The Auto Spa, Shoreline Beacon, Kincardine News, The Ticket Line, Austin Graphics, Van Dolders Windows & Doors, TA Stewart & Son and Great Lakes Concrete.
