February 28, 2014- Nexen Tire N’FERA SU1 UHP tire has become a winner at the 2014 German iF Design Awards.

The N’FERA SU1, which features superior drainage performance on wet roads to suit the European climate, is a European-style asymmetric pattern tire that delivers excellent cornering and stability at high-speed driving.

Its dynamic design was highly rated for the way it reflects the powerful image of typhoons through simplified lines.

The iF Design Awards, run by the Hanover-based iF International Forum Design GmbH, is an internationally renowned design competition with a rich history dating back over 60 years. It is one of the top three design awards in the world, along with the Reddot Awards and IDEA.

The judges highly rated the tire’s design, quality, materials, innovation, functionality, convenience and safety. This year a total of 4,615 entries from 55 countries across the world competed hard to become winners.

The continuous improvement achieved by Nexen Tire in terms of its design competitiveness is shown by the various design awards it has won: an iF Design Award in 2011, a Reddot Award in 2012, and a Special Mention at the German Design Awards 2013, a first for the tire industry; it has also won a Japanese G-Mark Award.

More recently the tire maker won an American Good Design Award for all of its three entries, being the first Korean tire maker to do so.

“Our efforts to achieve ever greater global design management are paying off, as attested by the various renowned international design awards we have won,” said Han Min-hyeon, head of Research Development Division of Nexen Tire. “We will strive to raise our brand awareness in the global market by developing superior products with specialized design and performance.”
