MONTREAL, QC – J.R. Fitzpatrick won today’s NAPA 100 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race at Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. The Ayr, Ontario resident won the race, for the second time in his career, The 23 lap chase ended under caution with home province favourite Andrew Ranger in second.
Ranger managed to pass Fitzpatrick at one point during the race, but the order was reversed because of a caution on the same lap. Throughout the rest of the event, Fitzpatrick was able to weave in front of Ranger, until the late race caution locked in the finishing order.
Road racing specialist Robin Buck was third, ahead of two-time NCATS champ Scott Steckly. Points leader DJ Kennington was fifth, with a result that won’t do damage to his considerable lead in the championship chase with three races remaining.
A total of 34 racers took part in the NAPA 100.
… more to come.
