MIRABEL, QC – JUNE 3, 2012 – Jason Hathaway in his #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink/Vortex Brake Pads Dodge had a great race going, running in the top 5, until he ran into electrical issues on his racing machine. Heading to the 16 turn track at Circuit ICAR, the weather did not look promising for the weekend.

Saturday’s practice was limited due to heavy rains and qualifying scheduled for late Saturday afternoon was cancelled. Sunday’s starting field was set according to owner points from the 2011 NASCAR CTS season.  Hathaway lined up 7th on the starting grid for Sunday afternoon’s race.

The rainy skies lifted and the sun began to break just before noon on Sunday.  The team hosted Rockstar trackside and there was tons of activity around the Team hauler and with Jason at the car during the autograph session.

By lap 2 of the 30 lap race Hathaway had worked his way to 5th in the running order.  A restart on lap 5 positioned Hathaway in 3rd and he was finding a steady rhythm.  Just before the half way point Hathaway radioed into his crew that something sounded amiss with his racing machine. He brought his car down pit road to the attention of his crew. They diagnosed the electrical problem and went to work. The crew finished up their job and sent Hathaway back out onto the track, but were a number of green flag laps down making the repairs.   Hathaway got back to up speed pretty quickly, but with limited laps left in the race he couldn’t make his way back up to the front where he had been running.  He finished 23rd.

“This was a tough weekend for us.  The water played havoc with our electrical system and that is what bit us. The car was feeling really good and we were in line to run up front for sure this weekend. Our guys never gave up when I had to come in and they got me back out onto the track.  The road courses are tricky, but they are fun and the crowds are great!” said Hathaway after the race.

The next race on the schedule will take the Team to their first oval of the 2012 season, June 16th at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park near Bowmanville, ON.
