London, ON – Mark Dilley, driver of the #02 Micks Motorsports/Leland Industries/PartSource/Beyond Digital Imaging Ford Fusion, came to Delaware Speedway with another good finish in mind after the second place at CTMP at the Speedway last Saturday. A flat tire would cause Dilley to lose two laps and finish seventh on the night.
Dilley and the #02 team made numerous changes to the car during the two-half hour practice sessions on Saturday afternoon with the eighth quickest time being the final result.
For time trials later in the day, Dilley commented, “I didn’t get the lap I was looking for. I was just a bit too careful.” They would line up seventh for the Emco 200 later in the evening.
A long green flag run had Dilley solidly in the top ten with a car that he felt was good enough to post a top five finish. After making pit stops for fuel and right side tires, Dilley later reported to his crew that he had a left side tire going down. He came into the pits to the attention of his crew under green flag conditions and when he returned to the track he was 2 laps down to the leaders. After battling back through traffic for the final forty laps, Dilley crossed the finish line in seventh.
“Not a bad finish considering we were two laps down,” Dilley said post-race. “This Leland/PartSource/BDI Ford was really quick again tonight and we were looking forward to backing up our 2nd place finish from last week with another top 3 tonight. We will take it though and head to Vernon in a couple of weeks.”
The Emco 200 will be aired on TSN Sunday, July 8, at 3 p.m. ET and on RDS2 Wednesday, July 25, at 10 p.m. ET.
