RIVER GLADE, NB – (June 19th, 2022) – Nicholas Naugle (Dartmouth, NS) and Alexandra O’Blenis (Boundary Creek, NB) had plenty of reason to celebrate Saturday night at Petty International Raceway as the drivers picked up Late Model wins during the 58th Jones Auto Body River Glade International. For both, it was their first victories at the River Glade International event in Late Model competition.
Naugle showed the way for most of the second half in the Super Late Model/Pro Stock 150 in Memory of Ernie McLean and Pat Rodgers. Naugle raced to the win ahead of Ashton Tucker (Miramichi, NB) and a hard charging Robbie MacEwen (Sherwood, PE). Reigning event champion Cory Hall (Jolicure, NB) and Dustin Tucker (Darling’s Island, NB) completed the top five.
Eighteen cars began the day in Super Late Model competition with Naugle setting quick time in EIT Race Radios Time Trials. Lonnie Sommerville (Barnesville, NB) and Devin Snell (Saint John, NB) took home Wingnut Productions/TimsCorner.tv Heat Races. Alexandra O’Blenis bagged her second big money race at Petty International Raceway in the last 10 months by capturing the $4,000-to-win Fog City Auto Spa Late Model Sportsman 100. O’Blenis drove away on a late race restart with a handful of laps remaining, leaving her sister Courtney O’Blenis (Boundary Creek, NB) to battle with Brady Creamer (Miramichi, NB) for the runner-up spot.
Courtney would grab second, making it a one two finish for the O’Blenis sisters. Creamer was third, followed by Curtis Collins (Barnesville, NB) and Chris Reid (Fort McMurray, NB). Courtney O’Blenis set quick time in EIT Race Radios Time Trials. The Fog City Auto Spa Late Model Sportsman 100 took one hour, 32 minutes to complete.
The Subaru of Moncton Classic for the Heart of a Champion Hot Rod Classics powered by Conrad Bros was won by Tylor Hawes (Porters Lake, NS), backing up his victory earned in the 2021 edition of the Jones Auto Body River Glade International. Stacey Clements (Halifax, NS) was second and Patty Lawrence (Halifax, NS) third in a close 25-lap feature.
Chase MacKay (Bear Cove, NS) and Caden Tufts (Halifax, NS) dueled for the win in the Leisure Days RV Bandolero feature.
