2011 NASCAR Track Champion Brad Eddy is pleased to announce that his 2012 racing schedule will have him compete north of the border on the highly competitive Maritime Pro Stock Series (MPST). Over the last two years Eddy has been doing most of his racing in the United States, driving in NASCAR’s Late Model Division. The NASCAR race cars are much heavier than the Pro Stock (Super Late Model) cars that compete every summer at tracks throughout the Maritimes.
“I know that I really have a lot to learn racing these types of cars. They are wider, faster and brake a lot better than the NASCAR Late models that I raced in 12 or so events down south since 2010. My goal is to learn a ton this summer and gain the respect of both the drivers and the fans that have been so loyal to this series over the years. I grew up watching my Dad race on this tour and it has always been my dream to get out there and compete.”
Eddy will race his own car which will be maintained at the race shop of MPST veteran Mike MacKenzie, who has experienced lots of success both as a driver and as a car builder on the circuit.
Competing and racing door handle to door handle against some of the best drivers in Canada this summer will be a challenge for Eddy.
“I’m really looking forward to racing back home this summer and competing against some of the drivers that I used to watch when I was six or seven years old.”
The Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year Award, one of the series’ most coveted titles, is Eddy’s goal in 2012. As with most Rookies, Eddy will need to rely heavily on gaining support from sponsors in order to compete in all 12 events.
“My family has worked very hard at supporting my dream since I started racing go karts at age eight. They have sacrificed so much and for that I am very grateful. We pray that this summer we will attract support from more companies who also want to play a part in my racing efforts. I promise that they will receive a high return on their investment.”
Eddy is also seeking a little more help in the pits this summer and is looking for a crew chief for five of the 12 events. He is also on the hunt for one or two more crew members to help share various race weekend responsibilities.

His first MPST race will be at Scotia Speedworld near the Halifax International Airport on May 20. Eddy won the 2009 Bandolero Track Championship at Scotia Speedworld in 2009.
