DAYTONA BEACH, FL – Due to logistical challenges resulting from the ongoing pandemic, NASCAR has shifted the second race in the Camping World Truck Series Playoffs, originally scheduled to take place in Ontario, Canada at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, to Darlington Raceway.

The race will be the first of a Sunday Playoffs doubleheader at Darlington and will begin at its originally scheduled time (Sunday, Sept. 5, 1:30 p.m. ET, FS1). The NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs will kick off its 10-week playoff run later that evening (6 p.m. ET, NBCSN).

The NASCAR Xfinity Series will open a trio of races at The Lady In Black on Labor Day Weekend when cars hit the track on Saturday, Sept. 4 at 3:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Darlington Raceway also hosted all three NASCAR national series for Throwback Weekend, May 7-9. In the Friday night NASCAR Camping World Truck Series affair, Sheldon Creed took home his first victory of 2021 after outdueling Ben Rhodes on the final two restarts of the race.

The Camping World Truck Series Playoffs get underway at World Wide Technology Raceway on Friday, Aug. 20 at 9 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

NASCAR announced today that the Camping World Truck Series will not make the trip North of the border this year to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP). The sanctioning body has been working closely with both CTMP and Canadian officials, and the decision was made jointly in the interest of the sport and community based on current travel restrictions between the US/Canada border.

The Camping World Truck Series Chevrolet Silverado 250 event weekend will now be replaced by a NASCAR Trucks round at Darlington Raceway on its originally scheduled date, time, and network.

“We are obviously very disappointed to have to cancel this event for the second straight year,” said CTMP President & General Manger Myles Brandt. “Along with NASCAR we are focused on providing a safe environment for our competitors, fans, and the entire community.”

Brandt continued, “with the current border restrictions it became apparent to all parties that the event could not go ahead for this season. We will now focus on the return of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2022, and making that event the best one yet.”

The hope for Ontario’s racing facilities is to open later this summer with limited spectators in “Step 2 and 3” of Ontario’s re-opening plan. In accordance with this plan CTMP intends for a Labour Day Weekend event to go ahead without the NASCAR Trucks. The absence of the headlining series will of course be reflected in the eventual weekend ticket price of this proposed event, please stay tuned for details.

As well, CTMP will be providing full refunds for tickets and/or camping you had purchased for the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 250 event that were transferred to 2021; please correspond with us via email – info@ctmpark.com .
