(June 16, 2021) OHSWEKEN, ON – Ohsweken Speedway management, along with the NASCAR Pinty’s Series, have announced the inaugural Pinty’s 100 scheduled for the summer of 2021 will regrettably be postponed until 2022.
Working closely with Six Nations health officials, track owner Glenn Styres says the responsible decision is to postpone the anticipated event to 2022. Ongoing restrictions at the Canada-US border have also made it challenging to book international stars to attend and compete in the blockbuster event.
“We are committed to making the Pinty’s 100 Ohsweken Speedway’s biggest event in its 25 year history,” said track manager Clinton Geoffrey. “Doing that requires star power from both sides of the border and a grandstand full of rabid fans. Because we can’t confidently say we would have either of those things in 2021, we are forced to wait yet another year.”
Despite the postponement of the historic NASCAR event, renovations have continued at the 1/3 mile dirt track.
“Fans will be blown away when they visit the Speedway next,” said Geoffrey. “From new parking areas, new pavement in various locations around the facility, a new concrete wall around the racing surface, state-of-the-art connectivity, and a new VIP suite tower, the work just hasn’t stopped.”
Ohsweken’s regular Friday night schedule is also in a holding pattern as track management and local health officials responsibly and cautiously plan their own road map to reopening.
“This extended off-season has been as frustrating for us as it is for our many teams and fans eager to get back on the track,” said Geoffrey. “Make no mistake, we are as committed as ever to providing the biggest and best short track racing events in the country.”
