Mirabel, QC – Alex Guenette completed a perfect day at Complexe ICAR on Saturday, winning the NAPA 100 after leading practice, qualifying and the entire race aboard the No. 39 DLGL/GL Électricité-Automatisation Chevrolet.
Earlier in the day, the Terrebonne, QC driver set the fastest time in practice before claiming the first E3 Spark Plugs Pole Award of his NASCAR Canada Series career. Starting from the front row for the first time, Guenette maintained the lead at the drop of the green flag.
Behind him, several battles began to develop throughout the field. Andrew Ranger moved into third on Lap 2 in the No. 27 GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada/BFL Chevrolet, while championship leader Marc-Antoine Camirand advanced from sixth on the starting grid to fourth by Lap 4 in the No. 96 GM Paillé Chevrolet.
As Guenette continued to lead, Ranger began closing the gap to Kevin Lacroix in the No. 74 NAPA Gold Filters/NAPA Racing Chevrolet for second. By Lap 14, the two were running closely together, with Ranger applying pressure over several laps before making the pass for second on Lap 19.
A full-course caution came out on Lap 20 after Sam Fellows experienced transmission problems in the No. 87 AER/Novus/McDougall Energy/Mobil 1 Chevrolet. The race resumed with 20 laps remaining with Guenette leading Ranger and Lacroix. Guenette retained the top position on the restart as the battles continued behind the leaders.
Camirand began applying pressure on Lacroix for third and eventually completed the pass to move into the final podium position.
Further back, Connor Bell in the No. 3 Dymon/Sangsin Brake/HGC/Fast Eddie Chevrolet and J.P. Bergeron in the No. 1 ERacer/JC Perreault/Prolon/La Domaine Shannon battled for sixth position. With 10 laps remaining, contact between the two allowed Bell to take over the spot. L.P. Dumoulin, behind-the-wheel of the No. 47 WeatherTech/Bellemare/Omnifab Dodge, later moved past Bergeron for seventh and began putting pressure on Bell, who successfully defended the position to finish sixth.
At the front, Guenette maintained control through the closing laps to claim the NAPA 100 victory, capping off a perfect day at Complexe ICAR. After leading practice and earning the pole position, Guenette led every lap and recorded the fastest lap of the race on his way to the win.
Ranger finished second after winning a close battle with Lacroix for the position. Camirand completed the podium in third after starting sixth and steadily working his way through the field.
“Winning today is incredible,” said Guenette. “Over the past few years, we’ve come really close to winning several times, but something always seemed to happen. Today, it was clear: it was our day. I had a car that allowed me to show what I’m capable of. I’m really happy to win here at my home track, in front of hundreds of people I know. A huge thank you to JASS Racing / XEMIS Racing for giving me such an incredible car.”
“I’m really happy,” said Ranger. “It’s another great podium for the No. 27 GM Paillé Chevrolet. We weren’t as fast as Alex Guenette today, but we had a good car and enough pace to finish on the podium. Starting fourth and finishing second is really satisfying for our team. It’s been a great weekend for the Ranger family, with my son also finishing second in another series.”
“It’s a great third-place finish,” said Camirand. “We didn’t have the perfect car today, and we didn’t qualify as well as we would have liked with the No. 96, but I was able to work my way up to third during the race. Under the circumstances, we’re very happy with the result. Now, we’re heading to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, where we’ll try to wrap up the championship.”
Following the NAPA 100, Camirand continues to lead the NASCAR Canada Series championship standings with 539 points. L.P. Dumoulin sits second with 457 points, followed by Lacroix with 433 points.
The NASCAR Canada Series heads to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on September 5–6 for the penultimate race of the 2026 season.
