CYPRESS, CA (May 18, 2017) — Motul, a full-service French international developer, manufacturer, and distributor of a variety of engine oils and lubricants, is proud to announce they are sponsoring Samantha Tan, a 19-year old racecar driver from Gormley, Ontario (Canada), in the Pirelli World Challenge, in 2017. For the first time, Tan will drive for her own team, ST Racing, along with her teammate well-known driver, Nick Wittmer, both competing in the TC class.
Passionate about helping to make racing dreams a reality for drivers all over the world, Motul sponsors up-and-coming young racing talents as a way to help them make their dreams a reality.

Tan’s team, ST Racing, was officially launched in October of 2016. It is a team of experienced racing managers ready to secure a win for Tan and Wittmer. Both drivers will be debuting a new car, the BMW M235iR in the TC class at the event. Presently, Kenneth Tan works as the Team Principal, Ben Distaulo as the Team Manager, and Alex Dupré as the Team Engineer. Pierre Savoy is filling the crucial role as the Driver Coach for Samantha Tan leading up to the event.

The Pirelli World Challenge is North America’s top production car-based racing championship featuring GT, GTS and Touring Car classes. The series celebrated its 25th anniversary season in 2014 after being born in 1990.
ABOUT SAMANTHA TAN
Samantha Tan is a 19-year-old race car driver from Gormley, Ontario, Canada. She found her interest in cars at the young age of 5, when her father bought her a Power Wheels Jeep. She fondly recalls drifting around the driveway in front of her house and was always striving to complete a full 180.
Tan was the youngest driver to participate in the Ferrari Driving Experience at Mont Tremblant (Quebec), where she ultimately made her decision to start racing. Over the winter month of 2014, she competed in NASA (National AutoSport Association), where she achieved a 2nd place finish at Gateway International, and two 3rd place finishes at Virginia International Raceway.
During the summer months, she was a part of the Canadian Touring Car Championship in the #45 Mini Cooper S JCW. Samantha finished 5th out of 22 cars in the Touring Class, 9th out of 47 overall in the Series, and was recognized as Rookie of the Year.
Tan is now competing in the Pirelli World Challenge (Touring Class) with her own team, ST Racing. Both Samantha Tan and her teammate Nick Wittmer are driving a new car, the BMW M235iR. Samantha Tan is currently a studying economics at the University of California Irvine, where she resides.
