Mississauga, ON, May 23, 2012 – The 39th running of the Rocky Mountain Rally, the second round of the 2012 Canadian Rally Championship, runs this weekend in Calgary, AB.

The Mitsubishi Brigade at this weekend’s “Rocky” will be comprised of six teams among the 29 entries. Reigning Canadian and North American champions and 2012 Perce-Neige winners, Antoine L’Estage of St- Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC and co-driver Nathalie Richard of Halifax, NS, will compete in the longest event of the season in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX.

L’Estage and Richard are looking for a third straight win and their fifth in this event. Also competing for a place on the event podium, the Alberta team of veteran driver Hardy Schmidtke from Cochrane and codriver John Hall from Sherwood Park will steer the Hardyboy Racing Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX.

Four more teams from Alberta will join the Mitsubishi Brigade in different rally classes, three of them also rookies in the Rocky. In the Production GT category, Tibor Kertes will partner with Spencer Armstrong in a 2009 Mitsubishi Evolution. In Open class, Wim van der Poel and Bryan Lord will drive their Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8. A brand new Mitsubishi Eclipse prepared to the two-wheel-drive Group 5 specs will see the duo of driver Krystian Ostrowski and codriver Chris Galecki at the helm for its maiden competition. Finally Mitsubishi will be represented in the Production Sport class with Jeff Tooth and British Columbian Nicky Beverley in an entry level Lancer. Tooth and Beverley also represent Team Young Adult Cancer Canada.

“The season started on a high note with an overall win in Quebec, but we are also happy to welcome new teams for this event”, said Tony Laframboise, vide-president of sales and marketing, Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada. “This is a grueling two-day event and a real marathon. We wish a safe and successful weekend to all our crews.”
