ACTON, ON- Fifteen year old Brandon McFerran will make his first career Kawartha Speedway appearance on June 1st, when he takes to the spacious 3/8 mile oval for the inaugural $500-to win Mini Stock Nationals.
“This one’s been circled on our calendar for a while”, McFerran said at a recent Sunset Speedway event. “These are the type of events that really show you where your program is at. When you can come out and test yourself against the best of the best, that’s the perfect measuring stick for what you need to do to improve”
‘The Astronaut’ joins an entry list littered with track champions and Crown Jewel winners from across Ontario. Yet, despite the level of competition, McFerran is confident entering the 30-lap event.
“It’s going to be an honour to strap in and race against some of these guys”, explained McFerran. “But, we wouldn’t be towing all the way to Kawartha if we didn’t think we had a chance to win. I respect every driver on that entry list, but I believe our program is strong enough to race alongside any of them. We’re going to bring everything we have, but I like our chances”
The former Flamboro Speedway Oktoberfest winner, McFerran is quick underscore just how much a victory at the Mini Stock Nationals would mean to his team.
“We’ve won some big races in the past, but nothing like this”, said McFerran. “A win at the Nationals would be the highlight of my career”
“That’s exactly the way our team is approaching this race”, continued the well-spoken High School student. “We’re preparing for this event like it’s the most important race we’ve ever competed in. I can’t wait to get to Kawartha and see where we size up”
Brandon McFerran’s Kawartha Speedway debut will be made possible thanks to support from Peter D. Laird Transport, Road Ranger, Fast Eddie Racewear, East End Car Wash, Creative Edge Graphics, Finish Line Painting & Restoration, DS McClure Farms, EPIC Racewear by OnePromo.ca and AMD Electric.
