THOROLD, ON – With Merrittville Speedway’s final 2012 Event less than two weeks away comes two announcements concerning Sunday September 9th’s Grantham Lions Smash-o-Rama accelerated by Niagara College.

“We have pushed the start time to 1:00 PM … it makes the inspection process a lot smoother with the extra time,” relates (GM) Erica Bicknell-Jones, ” and the Backwards Enduro that we added race day to last year’s event – is back with us this year.”

The Pit Gates will open as scheduled at 9 PM and Enduro competitors are encouraged to arrive as early as possible for inspections. The Grandstands will open at 11:00. Driver and Scorer Meeting times will be announced at a later date. Once the 100 lap Enduro is completed, drivers that have cars that are still in working order can enter the Backwards Enduro which will have an Entry Fee of $25.00 payable anytime with the purse based on the number of entries with a 75% payback to a maximum of 5 positions.

“With the additional entry fee – drivers can run their cars in the new event or another driver can step in,” added Bicknell-Jones, “or maybe some would just like to run the Backwards Race on it’s own – we are thinking it will be a 25 lap event.”

The Grantham Lions Enduro accelerated by Niagara College breaks it all down as it brings a speedy end to 2012 and blows your mind with a high octane blast of hard turns and twisted metal. Enduro Racing is part SCIENCE, part STUNT, part INFO-TAINMENT and always 100% ADRENALINE and OUTRAGEOUS FUN

Now’s the time to push up your sleeves … get your hands dirty as cars will be jacked up, busted apart and pushed to their limits and beyond. You’ll crash, skid, swerve, slam, and demolish your way through the final event of the 61st Season.

“It’s pretty basic,” adds Bicknell-Jones, ” it’s a street car with safety modifications – everything else is stock as you found it … an Enduro car is not a race car – it’s a car that races.” The Event also includes Monster Trucks – After Shock and Krazy Train.
